I've been reading the posts on .380's, and the Browning BDA seems to come up a lot. It looks an awful lot like my Beretta (minus the trademark open slide). What gives? I mean...They look almost exactly alike!

Beretta built the BDA for FN (browning-except for the license only stuff in the US)
it's the same basically, actually if you look at a bda, its all there except for the Beretta rollmark and the grips

The Browning .380 BDA is the Beretta 84 with a different slide (enclosed barrel and smaller ejection port) and a different location of the safety (Beretta on the frame like a 1911, Browning on the Slide like a S&W)

...and to add to what 9mmepiphany said, the 84 is the double stack, while the 85 is the single.

The 85 is the preferable one, IMHO.

A comparison.

Thanks for all the info guys. Especially the comparison photo. I knew there had to be some connection between the two...they are just too similar.

Peter M. Eick thanks for the pictures.

I knew about the hammer and the angled dustcover, but had forgotten about the reshaped tang
