okay before you get all 'hey a 32 is to small, at least get a 380 if not a 9mm!'

I have a pair of 357 revolvers already, so 'serious firepower' is not lacking. Also, I have a makarov in 9mm mak, so a reasonably priced 'CC gun' is also covered, for the times when the 6" barrel on my taurus 66 is going to present a problem.

However, I do like fun to shoot unusual things, and i happen to spot http://www.southernohiogun.com/hand.htm

Beretta "FN" BDA .32ACP
These are rare FN contract pistols that are brand new, with 2-12Rd. magazines. BDA pistols are generally calibered in .380ACP, but these contract pistols are .32ACP! Slide marked “Fabrique Nationale” with Beretta logo on the other side of slide.

Now, I have been thinking about getting a 'large for 380' (read not a kel tec or other micro) small handgun, more for fun shooting, especially as a step up from the .22LR handgun before switching a new shooter to a 9mm for the first time, but also just for fun of zipping lead downrange and making tin cans jump.

I am also aware that 32acp ammo is a bit harder to find on shelves, and is about as expensive as 380, but I have been thinking about getting a beretta 84 or a Browning BDA-380 for a little bit.

And now I see this, which gets extra points for being relatively unique.

Do ANY of you have any experience with this specific firearm? How about BDA-380s in general?

Also, apparently you need to be a FFL registered with them to see the price, any of you FFLers who are registered mind checking the price and giving me a PM with it so I know ballpark what it would run?

Second and related question. THe very similar website http://www.aimsurplus.com/ frequently has similar merchandise, but they list prices.

If I ever decided to get something from one of these sights, or say shotgun news, I would use the FFL finder feature found from firearms (hehe wanted to see how many F words I could string together) auction sights, and contact a local 'garage FFL' to do the purchase for me. If I were to do such a thing, about how much above listed price should I expect to pay? Is it normally pretty much $25 on top of whatever the surplus sight or shotgun news asks for, with another $25 for transfer and paperwork, or is it 10% of the guns value, or what would be a reasonable deal for me to expect or ask for?

I do respect the time and effort it takes to do the paperwork just for say a handgun transfer after winning from a private seller on auctionarms or what have you, I do not begrudge the $25 fee charged for that. I got no problem paying $50 or so over what the FFL would purchase it for, he should be making a little money for his time and effort and all the hoops he had to jump through to get an FFL. Is that a reasonable amount? Too high? Too low?

However, I also think that the price over wholesale you see when you look at a gun in a gunstore represents not only a reasonable profit, but also the fact that the gun dealer has cash tied up in a specific firearm, taht may take a while to sell. Hence I would expect to pay LESS for a surplus firearm i am having an FFL attain for me, than I would expect to pay for one he has on display for sale right now, as the ones for sale, when sold, must also return basically 'interest' and 'shop/building fees' on the original wholesale purchase price. This might be altered if it's one of those deals where you buy 1 for a certain price, or 3 for 25% less.

Of course if I was to ask a FFL to order me a big namebrand (glock, H&K etc) firearm brand new from his distributor I would expect to pay a bit more beyond normal for the extra hassle, as he would normally buy in bulk from his retailer, and probably get some nice shipping savings and other savings because of this.

Again, am I off base on this? Should I expect a surplus gun to be just like a new namebrand gun special order, where it will probably be 10% more than if it was already sitting on the shelf waiting for me to buy it? Or is it reasonable to expect a bit of a deal, as the seller won't have any 'overhead' or 'risk' of it sitting unsold for 6 months?

I somewhat fear calling and asking about ordering XYZ, and then having the FFLer think 'boy this guy sure wants this specific item, I can really charge him up the whazoo!'

$475

I'd love to have one of these .32s. I have two Beretta .380s and they are outstanding guns. The $475 price is a little high in my opinion though.

Interesting gun. They are well made and look nice too but the BDA was big for caliber for a .380, let alone a .32. Might make a fun plinking gun though.
