I recently picked up an 870 20 Ga. Express. I was holding one in the store and read the imprint on the receiver as "Remington 870 Express Magnum", but the one that was brought out to me just reads "Remington 870". Is there a difference or just change in design? I checked the Remington site and found nothing to lead me to believe there is a difference.

IIRC they are exactly the same. It is just at some point Remington started stamping "Express Magnum" rather than just "Express."

That's true about the name change. Probably back around '90 or so. I know it changed by '93.

The Remington site calls the 12 and 20 the Express. They have a Super Magnum listed, but no Magnum I could find. I wonder if the 12 ga. guns are marked Express Magnum and the 20 ga. guns are simply Express?
