LGS has two used savages on the rack. Same 243 caliber. Stock are almost identical except for the front being rounded on one and flat on the other. Same barrel length. Actions are the same length. Internal mags on both. Both accutriggers and 3 position safety. 10 had a rubber butt pad and the 11's was plastic. Pretty much identical.

So, what is the difference between the 10 and 11's? I thought it was action length, but they were the same.

Any Savage with a 2 digit number is short action, 3 digits are long action. I can't say for sure, but looking at their website it seems MOST 10/110's have a basic black plastic stock. Mpst of he 11/111's have a cheap hardwood stock, laminated wood, or camo plastic. Some of the LE series of 10's are different as well.

I know the 16/116's are all stainless and the 14/114's are polished blue and walnut.

They were both 2 digits. One was a 10 and the ther was a 11. 99% identical guns.

They also had a Stevens, but they were asking more for it than the Savages......

Years ago, the 10 was the base model, the 11 slightly nicer/fancier (or at least it used to be, I think the 11 is now the most basic model). There was also the 12 varmint model, generally with a bull barrel and the 14 was the most deluxe model. Action-wise, there is no difference, except the 14 had the nicest finish.

Nowadays, I don't think anyone really knows if the numbers mean anything and they have all sorts of different letters after them. Pick the one you like best (or with the best price/condition ratio) and enjoy. Used Savage bolt action rifles can be outstanding values, often found like new with a decent scope on them for very little money.
