I was just over looking at Taurus' site and noticed they're now listing the differences between their "2nd series" and "3rd series" - which they're now selling. Also, how do you tell the differences between the different "series"? As far as I know, what they're calling "1st series" was the plain Millennium pistol, the non-"Pro" with an entirely different frame and general design, though very similar to the Pro. Second series would be the three-dot, DAO "Pro", whereas the 3rd series is identical to the 2nd but with the "straight-8" sights and a DA/SA trigger.

Am I missing anything?

Also, if those are the only differences between 2nd and 3rd series, is it possible to get the 3rd series upgrades (specifically the trigger) under warranty, or at nominal cost through Taurus? The DA/SA trigger is quite a bit better than the DAO, and makes the PT111 quite the nice little pistol at a good cost instead of just an affordable "not that nice but does the job" pistol, IMO.

Update @ post #4.

Think you have the distinctions covered. I had a 1st gen PT111 and now have a 3rd. gen PT140PRO. Huge difference! From 2 to 3 I believe it was all about the trigger. The newer SA/DA has a fantastic trigger IMHO. Very impressed with the latest Millenniums (just Millennium on the frame now (again) with the PRO coming after the model # on the other side). In fact, I think I like the PT140PRO better than a Walther P99cAS . . . seriously good gun for the money.

Update: I contacted Taurus about this as I couldn't find any information elsewhere on the matter. Christian there at customer support was quite helpful (I pestered him with a full range of Taurus questions :p).

The PT111 line has 3 distinctly different varieties, 1st series (non-Pro), 2nd series (Pro), and then the current 3rd series with the straight-8 sights and the DA/SA trigger (they've apparently dropped the 'pro' moniker for 3d series - I wish they'd show the distinctions somewhere, because it's confusing). All three versions have a different magwell cut and internal part structure. As such, it's not possible (at this time) to get a DA/SA trigger for the Millennium Pro line of Taurus pistols; Christian said he didn't know of anything in the pipeline to make that upgrade possible (and I doubt there will be).

Anyone know of aftermarket triggers and such for Taurus pistols? :p Can't find anything on Google...
