Different finish on a blued barrel....?

Planning to drop a REM 700 .30-06 barrel/action into a BlackHawk Axiom U/L tactical stock. This barrel and action is a high gloss blued finish. I'd just like something more akin to it's forthcoming tactical home. In combat, I've taped many barrels but don't really wanna on this one.

What are my options? Can it be stripped than a matte finish? What about Parkerization?

Bead blast it to knock the old gloss blue off and spray it with flat black Dura-Coat, Brownell's Gun-Coat, etc.
Or any other color you want.

Bead blast might be a little too gentle for a coating prep. Usually aluminum oxide (120 alox) is preferred as it gives the coating more bite to hang on to the base metal.
