Glock 23

To replace my carry gun. Then work on replacing most of the stuff in my safe. Except for my Kel-Tec :mad: sub2000 jam-o-matic.

well if your were smart with your insurance you should have gotten enough to replace all. Most policies will go $1000. and a rider for $2000. more,let the shopping begin :) Since I don't own a gun I don't want I'd replace em all, starting with a kgp141.

1) Go to the nearest Glock-dealer I know and order another Glock 17L, but this time I'll have him change the sights for adjustable Mepros straightaway. I'll also order a couple 17+2 rounders and an Agrip.
2) Then I'll go to the nearest HK longguns-dealer I know and order a (now black) HK SL8. Then I'll be off to the nearest source for 30rd mags.
3) Finally I'll go to the best mil-surp dealer I know and order another No.4 Mk.I. And an Enfield L8. Don't forget stripper clips!

So basically I'd get the (almost) exact guns I currently have.

Oh, damn, I forgot! :banghead:

-1) Go to the authorities and re-apply for a license, so I can actually buy the new guns.

0) Wait for the application to be processed. :(

j-frame hammerless.---> Yup. 640 .357Mag

Next pump-gun, 12g.--->Yup. 870 Express(since funds are low)

Next 30-30 lever gun.--->Yup. Model? I'd hit the used market,tons out there.

Probably a .22 next. ---> Marlin 39 or Ruger 10/22

:)

1st gun - j-frame 642 and a desantis holster to get me by.
2nd gun - 870 express with two barrel combo
Third Gun - BHP if they have it and 1911 if they don’t. I will get some leather to go with it. Galco is not my favorite but my dealer does stock it.
Stop 4 - Order a PCS holster for the j-frame and a milt sparks for the bhp/1911 along with a belt from lightning arms. Explain the situation and pay for overnight delivery.
I would be looking at under 1000 dollars to stock up on carry guns, hd gun, ammo, and carry rigs and could be armed in 30 minutes(distance to my gun shop Virginia Arms with the time to fill out paperwork),

That has me covered enough to sleep ok at night and while walking around so it would be off to the range for reliability testing and patterning of the shotgun.

From here I would like a small auto (p32) for my always gun, and a rifle (probably would order a sks, Enfield or mosin with my c&r license) but both of those could wait until next paycheck.

This scenario really makes me want to have a fully stocked rig stored somewhere away from my house. That would be gun, magazines, ammo, holster and belt - the complete package kept somewhere in case something like this happened. Of course the last time I went somewhere where I was unarmed and had nothing close by in the car I was on a military deployment so I would usually at least have my carry rig on me.

After upgrading the locks on the doors (good deadbolts all round), bars on the windows and a decent buglar alarm (or change the company that I was with)...I would go back to basics with an 870 Remington for starters.

If I was wanting something strictly for home defense, I'd choose as primary either a Liberty II coach or Remington 870. Secondary would be a 357 S&W or Taurus DA revolver. If I felt something longer range was needed, the Ruger Mini Thirty would be my first choice (about $700). That's it! Add on top 200 rounds of 00 buck, <1,000 rounds 308> and 1,000 rounds of 357 mag 158 gr, this would reasure my level of personal safety in a quick hurry.

ANY gun that would allow me to QUICKLY, EFFECTIVELY, and PERMANENTLY put a stop to the SOBs who stole my guns if they ever come back!

That was REAL easy!

I would go check the pawn shops for a good deal on a used 870 and a used .357 revolver. This would tide me over until the insurance money came in.

I'd have to go over to the home place and get my 870 from Pop. Then after that well, it's start from scratch. Probably build myself a 9mm 1911 on a Caspian frame and slide, or try to.

huntsman,

well if your were smart with your insurance you should have gotten enough to replace all.

That's one problem with being a collector. I can't just jog down to the corner store and buy an SSG82 or an Arisaka cavalry carbine. :uhoh:

Hmm, tough decision.

Although, I'd really miss having a .22LR, I guess I'd have to be realistic and go with a carry pistol as my first purchase.

I'd have to say I'd buy another S&W 642 snubbie which is my current "always, when I'm not carrying a 1911 instead, gun". It's a good gun for all occasions, it's relatively cheap and they are easy to find at the local gun shop or gun show. However, if I came across another Colt CCO (or the same sized Kimber Compact) first, I'd probably buy it before the little pocket revolver. The CCO, with it's Commander slide and alloy Officer's frame, is hands down my favorite CCW.

After that I'd basically start replacing most of what I have now. I think I'd simplify my collection a bit though. There'd probably be more that I wouldn't buy than any additional to my current collection. I don't think I'd replace all the guns that I have now.

a reliable pump or auto 12 guage 3" mag shotgun with both rifled barre w/sights and a field barrel. In O.O.G.S., the 12 guage is perhaps the most versitile piece of equipment in the lower 48.

tamara,

That's one problem with being a collector. I can't just jog down to the corner store and buy an SSG82 or an Arisaka cavalry carbine.

now we know half the fun is in the search :rolleyes:

but for the most part all guns are replaceable ,execept for the really rare ones or the ones with special memories attached.

I think the important thing is to have your guns insured for replacement cost,not what they cost you.

1st - Remington 870 Express

2nd - Pair of Georgia Bloodhounds to track down them dirtbags and get my guns back!
