How hard is it to find a pre-B CZ-75 first edition with the short rail setup? I believe they were made before the 1980's, if I'm not mistaken. Last time I saw one for sale was on gunbroker, and a missed that like a complete idiot. It's been causing me heart ache since.

I've had a love affair with this pistol since I was a little kid. They are rare beauts.

I believe the short rail was only made for the first year or two of production. They turn up now and again, just keep an eye out.

Gunbroker is probably your bet bet. I've gotten 2 of them from there over the last couple years. The short rail was made from 1975-1980. The first full production year was 1977. There have been a few ex-Rhodesian army short-rails for sale on gunbroker in the last few years. I believe several of them were imported to a couple dealers in the US in 2003. Many of them seem to come from dealers in Arizona. They are hard to find but not impossible.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm usually checking every few days on Gunbroker, and put up a WTB post on the classifieds section as well. It'll be a glorious day when I get my hands on one and proceed to wear it out with many rounds of lead downrange. :D

Be sure to search "cz 75" and "cz75".

If you do get one and you want to shoot it I would recommend getting a "B" slide stop so you don't break the original. The "B" slide stops work fine but don't always hold the slide back after the last round. The pre-b slide stops are near impossible to find.

You a Gunsmith Cats fan by any chance? That's how I discovered the short-rail.:D

Oh dear, I am embarrassed that you read my mind and guessed the EXACT reason I've wanted one for nearly 16 years :D

I actually just very recently read the very last volume of Gunsmith Cats Burst just yesterday and again reignited my fire and desire to own one of these babies.

Lol. I thought so. No need to be embarrassed. I've come across many people just like us. Konnichi Sonata should be getting a paycheck from CZ-USA for bringing so many people to the CZ brand. :D

I do hope you find one. If I see one for sale anytime soon I'll PM you.

Go to CZforums and ask over there for a short rail. Someone might have something. There was one there for sale a while back.

They're rare in the US because they were made during the Cold War. You've got to have cash in hand and be ready to pounce on a deal. I've missed deals on GB and this forum by a few hours. Someday I'll get one.:(
