It looks like the Dillon backorder thread died a few weeks ago.

Anybody get a 550 recently? Is it still about a 4 week wait or are they catching up?

Obama is sending me a big check (thanks to my accountant being a little too conservative with withholding last year) so I can get some more reloading gear and put my gunsmith's kids through college.

Walked into a reloading shop the other day and he had two sitting there! Brand new in the box. If they came with dies, I would have bought one in 223. Crap, now that I think about it, I should have bought the dang thing anyways, but I already ordered the conversion kits and junk for my 650.

ordered one on march 16 in .40 s&w from brian enos have received the dies and conversion kit just waiting on the press now.

ordered one on march 16

Sad face. :(

I'm putting in my order next week straight from the source. I wonder if Enos has them drop shipped from Dillon, or if he gets them first and re-distributes them.

Was up in the Dillon store last Saturday for some misc parts... they are making and shipping 400 presses per week!!!!! They are getting orders for presses 500 a week.

Anyone here order from brian enos? I'm debating 'twixt the 550 and 650... I want maximum production but I also want to load at least 3 handgun calibers and I imagine change calibers semi regularly which I understand is more involved on the 650. but he says without the case feeder there's no real difference in speed between the two. Thoughts?

Man i wish i had $675 laying around. I want a 550B really bad. I would wouldn't mind the 6 week wait if i knew i was getting one.

Bummer. I just got the estimate from my gunsmith on a custom gun, and it looks like the dillon is going to have to wait until the end of summer.

I have places many, many orders with Brian over the last 4yrs. He has the best deal on ordering a press. His prices are the same as Dillon, but shipping is free on orders over $400. The speed of a 650 without a case feeder would be a little faster than a 550. I can safely load 400 rnds on my 550's per hour. I personally would not own a 650 without the case feeder. As for making caliber changes on the 550, I can switch from on caliber to another in about 3 or 4 min. The key is to have a powder measure mounted to each caliber tool head. Then all you have to do is switch the shell plate, slide the the new tool head in place, and change out the primer bar if you are going from SPP to LPP or vise versa. I have a 550 setup for LPP, and a 550 setup for SPP so all I have to do is change out the tool head, and shell plate.

Thanks. is changing calibers on the 650 any more involved?

I have heard that it is challenging enough that it is only worth setting up a new caliber if you are planning on doing a few thousand rounds. Apparently it's cake on the 550b, especially if you aren't changing primer size.

I have a 550b and a case feeder for it. You don't need a 650 to get a case feeder. Truth be known, I rarely use the case feeder. just drop 20 or so into the tube at a time. Problem in my situation is the case feeder site so high, I hardly have ceiling clearance to feed it.
