Is the Dillon 650 optimized for non-magnum pistol ammo?
Would anything in loading very large magnum revolver ammo slow it down?
Or should I get a single-stage? I'm reloading SW500.

I love my 650. With the correct conversion tools it handles many different rifle and pistol rounds. After you get it set up, you would find that the time difference between loading a few boxes of ammo makes it really nice. I started with a single stage back in '82, and still use one for very small runs of specialty or research ammo, but rely on Dillon machines for everything else.

The 650 was designed/optimized to operate with a case feeder.
Operating a 650 without a feeder is like neutering it.
The .500 S&W requires a Dillon magnum rifle kit to work with the it (additional cost $102).
Should you get a SS instead? From the limited information you've provided, maybe.
