Hello and thanks for any help you can offer. I'm new to reloading, so please forgive my lack of knowledge.

It seems like every time I think I have my dies all perfectly set something changes, either the flare is perfect or there is no flare at all. Or the bullet OAL varies as well. My concern is with the powder and flaring station. Ive loaded about 500 rounds so far with no problems, but yesterday I noticed that I really wasn't getting the right amount of flare (none). So I adjusted the die probably 1/8 of a turn down. Welll it looked good on my first few, so I started cranking them out when I noticed it started to flare out way too much. So I adjusted it back and had the same issue. I was hoping someone knows what could cause it to flare way too much randomly.

Yep. Measure your case lengths, my bet is that if you don't trim your brass, you'll find the "over flared" ones longer. Or you shell plate is loose.

Let us know what you find.

I use my 650 to load .38sp. Every now and then a .357 slips in and I get a trumpet instead of a normally flared .38 case.
