The Dillon conversion kits (38/357) include the shellplate, locator pins and powder funnel.

My question is: is the powder funnel caliber specific?

I'm asking because someone want s to buy my .38/357 conversion kit but I can't find the powder funnel that came with it. I have a powder measure they are also buying, which I think also includes a powder funnel

My question is: is the powder funnel caliber specific?
Dillon's powder funnels for pistol are caliber specific for the SD, 550 and 650 as they all incorporate an expander into them. On the 1050 they build the expander into the back up rod for the swage station so the powder funnel can be used to flair all the cases that would need one.

For rifle, the expander is generally on the decapping stem but the funnel is still specific to the diameter in order to prevent powder spills.

1050 powder funnel on left next to expander/backup rod, SD/550/650 powder funnel center and 550/650/1050 rifle powder funnel right.

You may be confusing the powder funnel with the powder die.

In 38/357 pistol reloading sets...
• The powder die is the chrome tube that screws into the tool head, which acts to physically attach the powder measure. The powder funnel then loosely slides inside the powder die.

• The powder funnel is a flaring tool that also includes the case mouth expander of a specific diameter. So the same 38/357 powder funnel might also be used with any 38 caliber cartridge, say for instance 38 Auto or S&W 38. The funnels are stamped, typically with letters of the alphabet, to denote their size, and a chart in the back of your Dillon press manual will show you all the calibers a specific funnel can be used on.

For this and other reasons, powder funnels are available as separate items.
