Dirty Harry today?

Dirty Harry did use an "autoloader" in one of his movies. I think it was the third or the fourth one maybe (I am not going to look up the exact name right now). However, he did use one and it was a .44 Auto Mag.

If he had to use a semi-auto, he wasn't going to mess around with some Glock or something of that nature. He knew pistols are not great man-stoppers, rifles are. Therefore, he chose the .44 mag, or something close, to get as close to rifle power as possible.

Haha! Looking back at other posts, the .44 Auto Mag thing has already been established. Sorry about that. Oh well, there it is...

Watched Dirty Harry on Netflix Streaming the other night, and noticed that he tended to shoot single action (or they just needed a gun sound to build tension before firing?). I wondered if this was a result of Clint's work in westerns or something he felt was right for the character.

And, according to a recent interview in the LA Times, Clint says in the 1970s he was offered the role of James Bond AND the role of Superman. Hmmmmm.

I like to think it's because he knows the S&W 29 double action trigger is about 16 pounds, and he'd be lucky to hit a barn pulling it;-)

Dirty Harry would have to use a revolver. Dirty Harry could not use an auto, because he could not use the "Do you feel lucky punk?" line 'cause if the gun was empty, the slide would be locked back.

Dirty Harry: "This is a .500 S&W Magnum..."

Punk: "Hunh?"

Dirty Harry: "...the most powerful revolver in the known universe..."

Punk: "What?"

Dirty Harry: "...you're probably wondering..."

Punk: "I can't hear a word you're saying, man, I'm deafened!"

I take it back.

AMT Auto Mag - He already has one

Wildley Magnum - Kind of like the AMT, lots of power, fits in with the idea of him "hunting" the criminals

LAR Grizzly Win Mag - Its like a 1911 but meaner and in .44 magnum or .50AE. (Note to self: Buy two of these... one day)

Cocking a revolver adds more theatrical suspense imho than racking a slide. In the case of the slide, I'm thinking, you dummy, you didn't have a round in the chamber :(

Superman, I have a hard time imagining based on some of the story lines but James Bond, that would have been a hoot.
