so I guess I have old style mags. looks like to need to press the spring down and pull the floorplate off but it isn't going too well. this doesn't look like it's going to be alot of fun but it needs to be done because the mags are very dirty. can someone guide me through this?

Flip the magazine upside down. Get a brass punch or a pencil with the lead point broken down. Push the buttonything in the middle of the floorplate down (into the mag body) and slide the floorplate forward and off.

As described above, just take anything that is about the same size as the detent on the bottom of the mag floor plate and push it in while you slide the floor plate off. Depending on age, dirt, grit, whatever, it may need to be sprayed with some gun cleaner/lube to help get the floorplate loose. Sometimes it is a bit of a struggle but it will eventually come loose.

Thanks. I tried this originally, because obviously it's common sense and it wasn't working. Finally I depressed the spring into the groove and pushed floor plated about 1/10th of the way off. Invariably it would stop there. Finally I had to wrap the front of the floorplate ina cloth so I didn't scratch it. Next I had to pull for the LIFE of me to get it off with pliers and when it came off it probably exceeded the FPS of the .45 acp bullet itself. Now I'm looking for the spring.:D 1 half down, 3 to go...Well, once I find that spring lol

rbernie: It has been some years since I had mine, but I recall my P220 mags having an extension of the mag spring fitting through a slot in the side of the mag body to hold the floorplate in place.
