I just finished building my Stag lower with a RRA lower parts kit. During the function check the hammer locks into the disconnector but doesn't disconnect when I release the trigger. If I pull up on the hammer it will disconnect. It will also disconnect if I squeeze and quickly release the trigger by sliding my finger off of the trigger. Placing the rifle on safe will also disconnect the hammer.

I don't know how to correct this. I suspect that either the hammer or the disconnector have a burr that is holding them together?

Thanks in advance.

Any chance the trigger spring is in backwards? I did that and had to push the trigger forwards to get it to set up. OTOH, it had a really light trigger pull.

could be the fit of the parts.

on my first kit, i had to do some gfrinding on the disc. it worked fine by itself, but when you put the upper on , the bolt wold push it down to the point that it would jam and needed to be taken down then to release it, making it, more or less a single shot.

i wouldnt be supprised if i wasnt the only one who's parts didnt fit "out of the box"

Thanks for the input, guys.

Andras, my trigger has plenty of forward pressure and I've checked the install of the trigger components and know that they are in there correctly.

deth502, I think you may be right. I think I'm just having a parts issue. The question is, what is the issue?

Hoping for more help,

Are you 100% sure the disconnector spring is oriented correctly? The directions are specific about that, iirc. I don't know what happens if it is in there backwards, but I believe the disconnector spring is tapered.

If the spring is good, I would just look at the possible engagement surfaces that could be causing the problem, and replace those parts... a new disconnector, trigger, hammer shouldn't cost you more than a few bucks.

My first thought is that the spring is upside down. It's embarrassing, but it happens. All of the parts should go together nicely, without forcing anything.
