a friend took hi rifle out last week and had a bullet mixed in with his correct size bullets and it was used in the gun. a lead bullet just a little to big . He tried to pound it out using an aluminum cleaning rod from the muzzle end and broke a second piece of aluminum and part of the rod off in the barrel, jamming it into the rifling and distorting the bullet even more, making it impossiable to apply the usual fix : tapping the bullet out with a strong, close fitting steel, brass tipped rod toward the action. so my question is how could i fix this without damaging the barrel or leaving pieces of metal in the grooves?

Because the aluminum rod is down the muzzle, you will have to drive the bullet from the receiver end of the barrel. With oil in the barrel , a lead bullet should move okay once it gets started in the oiled barrel. Make sure you are using a close fitting solid rod. (edit) Was this bullet fired and then lodged in the barrel or was it oversized and when partially seated jammed and was left in bore when cartridge was extracted? Because if it was not fired, it is jammed but not that bad, but the broken cleaning rod throws a twist into what you can do, it now has to come out the receiver end and the broken rod is in the way. Filling the bore with grease or oil and driving a close fitting brass rod down the barrel may hydralic the bullet and rod out. Good luck.

thanks the oil worked with the steel rod and soaked overnight. came out pretty easy. thanks
