Do any of yall have pictures of a dissipator type AR-15 upper mounted on a lower...Im trying to get an idea of how it'd look before I purchased it.

Thanks

this is generally what they look like.

i believe the handgaurds on this sample have been changed to something a little different, but it gives you the overall idea.

its basically a carbine length rifle with full sized sight radius and gas system.

i think they look pretty cool, but i cant tell you if they comprimise the reliability bushmaster is known for (if you talking about the bushy model.)

I've changed it a little bit since then: Went with a flat-top upper and had a standard FSB installed in place of the gas block. The railed handguard also went in the weight reduction.

I got the original upper from CMMG. Great parts and service but a long wait time.

I like the mid-length gas system. Less violent than the carbine gas setup and balances better too. BSW

do you know what it weighs?

Too much!

I did a 4 day rifle class with that rifle in close to that configuration. At that time it had a flat-top and Larue 2.5X flip magnifier.

The standard handguard and lighter barrel changed the balance for the better. Lighter and handier. BSW

I think these are a really good idea but ONLY for someone who is really into iron sights. Because I have no plans to add optics to my AR-15, I am currently looking to trade my 16" Bushmaster carbine for a Dissipator model. I'm really into a nice long sight radius.

Make sure you ask for a mid-length system when you order one of these as I have noted that many of them have carbine-length gas systems under those handguards.

Do the full length rifle gas systems work with only a couple inches of barrel after the gas block/front sight? I wouldn't mind a softer back pulse if they will cycle. Might be good for a can.

No, That's not a good idea. There isn't enough dwell time between the time the bullet passes the gas port and the time it leaves the barrel letting all the gas pressure escape.

Get a Midlength (preferred) or CAR/M4 gas system with anything less than a 20" barrel.

Keep in mind, Dissipators have a second gas block under the handguards. The front sight has no gas tube going to it.

The general rule of thumb for most efficient gas system is Rifle gas system for 20", Midlength for 16-18", CAR/M4 for 14.5".

thanks for the pictures guys...the model im lookin at is the DPMS one not the Bushmaster...if yall got anymore pictures of em please post em up...im kinda trying to figure out how its gonna look with the ACE skeleton stock i got on there...and this upper is not gonna have any optics on it, only iron sights...

thanks

The original "flavor" Bushmaster Dissipator has the gas block under the h-guard, I believe DPMS "dissipator" is just a cut down rifle.

Almost forgot... this is an old picture of my "Dissy", it now sports a few Magpul bits :D

Not talking from experience are you? I had one of the DPMS rifles with a full length gas system and a 16" barrel. It ran on everything I fed it except for some especially weak Monarch 55 grain. I think it would have ran on that after it was broken in though.

After seein these pics I think it'll look real good when i get it...thanks guys...keep postin them up if yall still got some more...

thanks

No, I never owned a DPMS Dissy. I used to have the Bushamster. I was just saying it's not the optimal configuration.
