What a bleepshow,
Last week I went on a much deserved vacation to Vegas with friends, catch a few shows with friends, spend some disposable income on something other than guns.
Well dang, lucky I prepaid for every event we planned on going to, all rooms, fees, and booked a place within walking distance to everything,
Because the first thing I bought when I arrived triggered a fraud alert that shut down my account for duration of my vacation.

Leaving me with a few gaps in my schedule and nothing to do
Except browse auctions.
So here's where my gambling money went instead.
Probably for the better, I suck at any and all games of chance, lol
Another S&W heritage series, this one a 29-9 .44 magnum.

For a series that purportedly had less than 350 produced of each model with most models significantly less, these S&W heritage models don't seem to be hard to find, right now anyways.
That's two I've gotten for a good price in as many months.

Battlefield Vegas was cool if you plan on stopping in, reasonable prices, great selection. Pretty busy so they try to move you through your session quickly though, no chilling and talking, firing for groups, slow fire...they basically want you to take a few single shots then rip through the rest of the mag fully auto so they can get you off the range.
I was expecting more stalls but I think they have multiple ranges.

I don’t like being rush! :(

Back in Charlotte, a range called Shooters Express had full auto to rent. They let you shoot as slow as you want

We went Saturday an hour before closing.
I bet if you go on a weekday in the middle of the day it's more chill

I for sure would have lost every penny I gambled. I suck at gambling, lol.
Pro tip for losers in Vegas… Take only $100 with you, put the other hundreds under the wife's pillow. If you lose $100, you have to go back to the hotel to get another $100 bill! Trust Me! it works

BTW… I always wonder about those pawn/gun shops in Vegas after Shot Show… I bet there are some treasure!!!

At the place called "The Gun Store" on Tropicana near Eastern, I spent a ton of money back when it was called "Target Alley" and a lot of it was for ammo shot out of Uzi's, Tommy Guns, and a couple of others, but that Thompson .45 with the drum got a lot of boxes of ammo put through it full auto.

And I used to hit the pawn shops on my days off, it was, most of the time, a waste of gas, but every so often, JACKPOT. Not just guns, I "intercepted" people going into pawn shops several time and told them, "Check with me before you say yes to their price!", and a lot of the time, the price offered was insanely low, I gave them $20 or more extra, and took it home. I had a lot of customers at the casino I worked at come to me with "I need to get back home, do you want to buy this?". Not always, but man, I made out great a few times. I still have some of the stuff I got in those deals, I used one of the steak knives on Monday morning that I bought for $5 for the set in 1981.

That’s a really nice model 29 @silicosys4
I especially like the grip panels. I know very little of the Heritage Series. I found a forum (S&W Forum) where a guy listed the models of the Heritage Series as “This series included Models 10, 15, 17, 19, 24, 25, 29, and the Model of 1917 in various finishes.”
I think I would like to come across a model 10 or 15 from that series.

I think you did much better in Vegas than most Silicosys4. My old man had a serious gambling problem when I was a kid. I do not gamble at table games. I won’t go into the crap he caused because of it. I do buy Lotto tickets on occasion, but that’s it for me.
I’d rather take a gamble on buying a new gun and laying odds about my wife’s reaction. I never know what she’s going to say.

Grandpa on my moms side hated gambling. Said "money is more useful sitting in my pocket than squandered on some game table."\
My grandpa on dads side however had a habit of it. Not sure if it was a addiction but he liked gambling now and then.
But for me, let the gamblers gamble. We know what the real treasures in life are, firearms. Surplus shop be our kinda casino.

I do believe the heritage series are sleepers in the collecting market even among the PC guns, particularly the 29-9...I paid significantly less for this heritage 29-9 than msrp for S&W's current M29 classic

It's got a few features that are unique to the model.
1. It's the last of the last pre-lock N frames,
2. AFAIK It's the only 4 screw M29 with the extra screw on the side plate and not the frame/trigger guard, though I may be wrong,
3. AFAIK it's the only M29 with a non ribbed pencil barrel and its different frame topstrap contour
4. AFAIK It's the only M29 with the tall Patridge gold bead sight
5. They had a unique box and serial number range

I don't think they will be in the same territory as a RM, but I think as time goes on they will gain recognition among collectors

I had no idea there was a Heritage series. Now that I know I will be on the look out. :)

Only 176 nickel finished S&W Model 29-9 Performance Center Heritage Series revolvers were ever made.

I love mine.

Only 176 of the blued and nickel finished guns were made each.

The story with 'em is very interesting.

S&W was still owned by Tompkins when Lew Horton signed the contract to have the Heritage Series made. During the run up, Tompkins sold S&W to Saf-T-Hammer for pennies on the dollar to the boycott caused by the Clinton HUD agreement.

Before the Heritage Series 29s were made, S&W introduced the lock with the Model.29-8. These were made after the lock was introduced and literally are the final N-Frames to ever leave the factory without the lock.

I paid $1,100 for mine last year.

Don’t how you guys are getting these 29’s for so cheap! Never seen any for under $1300

Pat, I didn't realize this was a Heritage unit myself, thought the grips didn't look vintage. I have a 25-15, which has 4 screws, and a lock, fer Pete's sake.
It looks like they really went whole hog on this one.
