Since Lee apparently isn't offering their neat little neck flaring tool( the one for the for the hand loader kit) for anything but the most common pistol calibers, and I have an interest in loading low velocity cast bullets for my .308, I have decided to make my own version of the tool. It seems simple enough

It is just a little punch with a step that the case neck hits to prevent it from going too far and flaring the neck too much. Pretty simple, shouldn't be any issues with making one on a lathe, my only question is how much does the neck need to be flared out(diameter at the widest point of the tapered section)

Enough so your lead bullet will start in the case without shaving lead.

Probably .310" or something if you are using .309" lead bullets.
