Do any tactical 12 gauge semi autos reliably cycle reduced recoil Self defense ammo? Specifically I am looking for info on the Benelli M2 and the Remington 1100.

I have fired one Benelli M2 that would only cycle full power buckshot reliably. Is that the norm?

The shorter Field models favored by the 3 gun crowd should, the Tacticals can but since they're set up for heavier loads, often seem to require a good break-in and/or some internal polishing.

I have an 18" 1100 Tactical that hasn't hiccuped with any of the few different rounds that I've put through it. I have not shot any reduced recoil loads though. I guess the lightest loads that I've shot were the Walmart bulk Federal target loads. It's had more of them through it than any all other types combined. Other than a lot of those rounds, I've only shot some Winchester pheasant field loads, Federal buckshot, Winchester and Federal slugs through it. Again, it hasn't hesitated once, but I don't know if that is surprising or expected. Would reduced recoil rounds be even lighter than the target loads I've mentioned?

If you'd like to recommend a load for me to try in my gun, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I would be curious to know how any of the reduced recoil tactical loads do in your 1100. Also, does your 1100 tactical have a metal or
Plastic trigger guard?

Both my Saiga 12 and my mossberg 930 do. Sorry I cannot comment as to the M2 or the 1100.

I've not found a load my Benelli M-1's will not handle. Mine have 24 and 26" barrels. On the inertia actions the barrel length shouldn't be a factor like it is on some gas guns.

My Benelli M2 runs light loads, specifically the B&P reduced recoil slugs (they move slow enough that you can see them in flight if you look.)

That said, I did some work to smooth out the action, and I know a lot of guys get the bolts on their Benelli M2s lightened in order to make them more reliable.

I commonly run reduced recoil buck and slugs as well as field #6 and #8 throygh my Benelli M1 Super90 Tactical with no issues. My H&K M1 Super90 has only been tested with reduced recoil slugs, and they ran fine too. My well worn 1100 doesn't like full power slugs and buck, as it hill tie up with the faster loads.
