Yesterday the neighbor invited me to come over and shoot. I took my 1911 and we shot up about an hour. When I disassembled it for cleaning I got as far as removing the barrell. No go. I tried everything, turning it, lifting it, no go. Looked at it with a lens, as to clearance, looked okay. Removed the link pin and link, still wouldn't slide out. Finally in frustration I re-assembled it, cleaned the barrell from the muzzle and put it aside. This morning I tried again and could feel tiny (I mean tiny) burrs on the side of the lug.. I used a small warding file and dressed both sides down, then using a piece of dowel as a drift tapped the barrell free. Dressed a little more and I could put the barrell back in with taps with the palm of my hand. What problems would cause this? The barrell lug has always been a snug fit thru the slide but this is the first time it's been this extreme.
