Do more insane guns come out the harder it is to find a place to shoot?

Useta be that a .22 rifle, a shotgun of some sort (probly pump) and MAYBE a.........handgun........... was all that a gun nut wanted.

They spent all their time shootin em or huntin.

NOW......we got so many guns that SEEM utterly useless. P22's with SIMULATED muzzle brakes..... LEVER ACTION .410's...(think it's neat tho)
More and more SMALL gauge shotguns and more rifle cartridges than there are things to shoot. 50 cal. auto handguns to bust wrists.

Guess they sell though.

Wonder when someone will come out with a .22 shot cartridge side by side double with a duck engraved on it? From Russia?

:D

Thank goodness for the free market! I have the .50 semi-auto, my bullpup, and a bunch of other toys I want but I still haven't found a low-barrel revolver other than the Mateba. Don't really want the semi-auto bulk and complexity. The cylinders look really cool though.

Still have a big list of freakish weapons I want. I'm a big fan of odd and rare actions. Falling blocks, bullpups, electricly driven chain guns . . . :D

I still want to build some of my own guns. Need to become independantly wealthy so I can start a custom shop that builds wierd one-off stuff.

Hmm, need to get a Barrett Mod 82 so I have a .50 semi-auto rifle to go with my .50 semi-auto pistol.

Uh....not sure what you're getting at.....too many different types of guns being a BAD thing? :scrutiny:

In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy the HECK out of my new .44 Desert Eagle Semiautomatic Pistol this weekend.

:D :D :D

Have fun with your .22!!! :neener:

I think what Topgun means is "where do you get to use them, if you don't have your own private back 40?", (or access to vacant BLM land in the western US) right? If the only place you can shoot is a strict club, some of these "neither fish nor fowl" guns don't have a home where you can do some blasting, or practicing.

Take the .410 levergun for instance, unless you use slugs, most club ranges won't let you use shot anywhere but the patterning board, or the trap and skeet field, and .410 is almost useless for trap and skeet.

It's meant for small game, or making something like a tin can dance for the fun of it. And at the same club, even the tin can is a no-no...

Frankly, I'd love to belong to a club that has a 50 or 100 yard, "do whatever you want, as long as it's safe, biodegradeable, or cleaned up afterward", range.

I take issue with your assumption tha t a .410 is useless on the skeet range.

I injured my back 2 years ago, and I had to shoot .410 because my 12Ga. was way too much, so was the 20 and 28.

I learned much shooting the little .410!
There are trap and skeet champions who only shoot 28's and .410's I personally know of 2 one shot 200 strait with the .410 and the other went 250 strait!:what:

Assuming that's what he means, thanks for the explanation, Andrew.

Fortunately, there's an indoor range that opened up in my area that allows you to shoot everything, including .50 BMG!!! :what:

Not that your body would allow you to shoot more than one round of that indoors, nor is it worthwhile at all since the BMG doesn't stabilize until ~200 yards or so, but its nice knowing that the option is there. :)

Oh you got it all wrong....

What I meant was that all guns should be BANNED. MELTED. Cut in pieces and strewn at the feet of the queen.

Who needs guns?

BAD GUNS!

And who needs a constitution with all them amendments. If the founding fathers had any sense, they wudda got it right the first time.

All a constitution does is make people all uppity and resistant to control.

And in today's dangerous world we need PEACEFUL folks.

Like the Patriot Act sez.

:D

Hey, anyone notice that now the cops only have to wait 15- 20 seconds to bash down your door if they SUSPECT you of being "bad?"

Was in today's paper. Oh we have gone real wrong.

My point was that it seems that we now spend more time drooling over new guns than shootin wot we got.

There has always been shooters with large collections. In the past we were only exposed to the limited number of people local to us. The large collections were only privy to a select few.

At the turn of the century, curio weapons were all the rage. Most were odd, uncomforatable and had little use other than just that - curios.

Then, we went through a hideous practical period where everything had to be purpose built, and now we make crazy guns again.

As for where to use these crazy guns, I have 44 acres thank you very much. I don't hunt much, I don't compete, I don't even do that much tactical drilling. I just like to make things go bang and punch holes.

:D
