Do people collect Sako rifles?

Oddly enough, yes. A guy I used to shoot with, 25 years ago, bragged about having every magnum Sako made. When asked why, he'd say, "Just to have.".

Hmm, ya' I guess somebody collects about everything there is.

I wondered because I have a Sako "A" action rifle in 22ppc that I'll probably put out for sale.

when I went to gunsamerica to try to get an idea of a price I saw a wide range for seemingly similar rifles and thought it must be that there's something that makes one Sako be worth a lot more than another Sako.

"Every magnum Sako made". That must be quite a few from over the fifty some years that Sakos have been imported. That is strictly collector behavior, for sure.

People collect anything and everything! Collecting Sakos would be awesome, but a bit hard on the wallet. Being rather meager-budgeted, I'm more about collecting CZs and other poor-man's rifles.

"...People collect anything and everything!..." Yep. Don't quite understand why people collect Coke bottles or dinner plates though.

sweetest shooting '06

Don't know if mine's collectible. People do collect them tho. And I can understand why.
Mine is the sweetest shooting '06 I've ever shot. The action/bolt is smooth, the metalwork is awesome, & wood is absolutely beautiful.
I wouldn't collect them but I'd sure like to have another one, in .243.

Hell yes

My grandfather shot competition with a custom (back then) L46 222. I have owned 2 L46's, a 22lr M78 or 72 (not sure which) and a Marlin L46 receiver gun. I even named my dog Sako in memory of my grandfather.....

If there is an item on earth, people will collect it.
I'll bet you could find a collector for any make of firearm in the world on this forum if you looked hard enough.

Yeah, I guess I should have known.

I'm remembering some TV thing I saw a couple years ago about some woman who collected everything to do with "The Pink Panther". She had rooms full of stuffed pink things, cups, hats, little banks, a whole host of things that had been marketed on the Pink Panther theme. She'd been to England to dinner with Peter Sellers and had gone around the world gathering up any kind of Pink Panther junk she could find. Weird old bird.

At least collecting Sako rifles makes some sense.

When I was younger and not really into hunting my uncle on my dad's side was a recreational hunter with other guys at his company. (At least that is what he told me) My dad told me that he had a few rifles that were really nice but they were made in japan. You know, like the watch company:what: Yep, you guessed it. He thought it was Seiko. Well, me being un informed back then, i did not know the difference.

It was not until my uncle died that I found out he had about 12 rifles. All Sako's in various calibers.

My aunt, not knowing any better after he died, let them all go in an estate sale for something like a thousand bucks.

Why can't i find deals like that??? You know, like the the little old lady that has a pristine 1970 AMX and only wants 1500 for it because it is so old and it has been in the garage since 71 "taking up space"

The right to keep and lead a bear... babelfish can be silly sometimes. Nice Sako site BTW atblis, I was going to mention it but saw that you already did.

theres a guy who came into our shop the other day who wanted a 375 Sako on our rack. I figured he was going to Alaska or something and when I asked if he was going to use a scope or not he said, no I just want it because I like Sakos and I dont have one of these.
