i'm trying to justify selling one of my many rifles off..............
i've come to this conundrum of "Do i really need both my 7rem mag & 30-06 ??"

Is there really anything i can't do with one that the other can............???

I'm happy with my .308 but have others so it's your choice. My opinion is keep both as you never know what will happen.

I have a 30-06, so I certainly don't need or want a 7mm Mag.

Nor do I need belted brass.
Or pay $7.00 a box more for factory ammo.
Or burn 10 - 15 grains more powder per shot in my reloads.

no the 06 can kill anything the mag can as long as you stick to ethical hunting ranges i.e. 400 yards.

yeah..........i'm a big fan of my 30-06...........< Win. mod70)

i bought the 7 rem mag on a whim, because i couldn't pas up the deal i was given on it.

Don't get me wrong!!............the 7rem mag is a nice shooting gun!! <Weatherby Vanguard)

i just don't think i really have a use for it considering i already have my 30-06.

besides............like was mentioned.................the rounds ain't cheap!!!;)

hmmmm....................to sell or not to sell????................:D

No. Virtually all centerfire rifle calibers above .243 are equaly suitable for any "need" based use in the lower 48. You can defend your home, kill injured animals, and hunt common table game with any of them.

The argument for having both comes down to supply availability. During the great ammo shortage I visited more than one shop/walmart that had a few boxes of one oddball caliber and nothing else. In that scenario, the more calibers you have the more likely you are to find ammo. I've seen shops with a box of .270 or 7mm mag and no 30-06. I was in one the other day (looking for .270) that had 7mm RM and little else (apart from .30 carbine and the like).

You can argue merits of 30-006 or 7mm RM but that's been done to death.

I have both, but the practical capabilities are near equal. When it comes to aquiring guns, "need" seldom enters into my equations.

or as i like to call it..............."GAS".........."Gun Acquisition Syndrome" ..........:D

this isn't anything to do with "Which round is better" or anything..........just want to thin the heard of guns i don't really need.........;)

The two rifles essentially duplicate each other's performance and you can easily sell one off without missing it in your battery. My own choice is the .30/06, but I have no particular preference for one calibre over the other: they are both excellent, all-around chamberings. Keep the one you like best, you really can't go wrong either way.

Some people say you can't have too many guns, but I disagree. Excess possessions are a burden: they have to be maintained, stored, protected from theft, transported (if you move houses). They also tie up capital that could otherwise be invested in things that you need.

Of course, none of this is a problem if you have lots of space, time and money, and if you derive genuine pleasure from owning things that you never use. We all have to make our own decisions about such matters.

whats need got to do with it? If it were about need, I'd only have a single 12 gauge....that would do all I NEED...

LOL..........yeah shoey i hear ya.......

Like i said................just tryin' to convince myself that i don't "need" to keep gathering guns.
Tryin' to tell myself it's OK to sell one once in a while if it ain't being used.:D

i see you also have "GAS".........."Guitar Acquisition Syndrome"..........

i definitely like the both...............but if i can bring myself to sell just one gun......then i know i've taken the first step to curing my GAS...........:D

haha, yeah, I hear ya. I had to make that difficult decision a couple weeks ago...sold a 12 gauge to pay bills on time and still get groceries...may have to decide on another before long if I cant get some more hours at work....hopefully things reverse a bit for me this summer and I can get one or two new toys to fill the void(s)

Most of the things in life that we "own" we really and truly do not need. We would likely not die without them (survival scenarios excepted). But, my oh my, I surely do "feel" the need for my guns. I have some that I seldom shoot. But I surely enjoy looking at them and holding them.
And they provide a certain satisfaction in just knowing they are there.

If you "need" the money, you have an easy decision. If you don't, hold onto it. I have only ever sold a few guns in my life. Almost without exception, I look back on those moments with regret. I wish now I had not sold them.
