I'd like an honest response, being a cop or military doesn't count it needs to be an official organization.
If you mark "other" please respond with who.
If you aren't a member of any please say why, if you can afford the internet and ammo you can't say lack of money....
Thanks,
BT

not to be difficult but i use the internet at work.....
an ammo is pretty costly so i stock up in bulk when i can

my only excuse is a lack of determination to go check out what i like.

(i have seen NRA newsletters an i am not impressed)

I just recently rejoined the NRA after a hiatus of nearly 20 years. I also formerly belonged to the Tennessee Sport Shooting Association, but have let my membership lapse.

As far as money being an excuse, yeah, I have the 'net and buy ammo. But, the 'net is pretty much a neccessity since I'm a college student. And if the choice comes down to TSSA/NRA/GOA/etc memberships and training, I'll take training anyday, thank you very much. I only rejoined the NRA recently because I had worked a few extra hours and found I could spare $25.

I'm paying off Life memberships in these organizations....

What good does it do? I don't know, I think WE have to do most of it ourselves...
So pass out Gran'Pa Jacks
Write your congressman
And help those in need...of a handgun

I don't belong to any right now, but I plan on joining JPFO and Pink Pistols soon, even though I'm neither gay nor jewish.

yeah, maybe the NRA, too. I just wish they were a bit more aggressive and not all about huntinghuntinghunting.

I'm an NRA lifer and a new GOA member. I also vote, write letters, and make phone calls. I tell people that it's important to belong to one of these organizations to help protect their 2nd Amend. rights because they can be your voice. Especially if you don't want to become involved politically in such things as letter writing or phone calls to representatives.

The majority of gun owners don't belong and as the NRA points out, we who do, carry them around on our backs. The apathy among some gun owners is sickening. They'll buy the newest gun or gadget but put no effort into retaining their gun rights. That is, unless you include their sitting around and bitching about it.

I've also heard most of the excuses about how some people dropped their memberships or fail to join because of the agressive fund raising efforts of some of these organizations. I say if you don't want to contribute more than your dues and perhaps one additional contribution throughout the year-----throw them away!

The bottom line is sitting around and bitching about it will never solve the problem! YOU, have to get pro-active about retaining your gun rights. For many people these organization are their voice.

Stay Safe, Pat S

NRA / GOA / SAF / JPFO

USPSA / IDPA

(all annual - I reserve the right to jump ship at any time I please :))

I'd join Pink Pistols and show my support, but I don't think they actually have memberships...not that I can see.

Gun Organizations

I was a member of the NRA for many years but they managed to get my goat on 2 issues CARA, and the NC gunshow bill. In both cases the went aginst the majority of their membership and supported the legislation. Even the watered down stance on CARA was not enough, and the North Carolina deal they were told by their own local affiliates in no uncertin terms not to support it they stabed them in the back and supported it and it passed. The orginizations is to support their members position not the executive board and in the these 2 cases the damage that could have been caused was astronomical.

I have since joined GOA and the Second Amendment Sisters both hold the no compromise position in word and deed, plus I love the SAS because they are in the antis face all the time a great group and growing by leaps and bounds.I urge all to check out these 2 orgs and consider them in addition to their NRA memberships(if not in place of). It may be many more years before I forgive the NRA for these 2 incidents, but it is the 800 pound gorilla and nice to have as long as it is obedient but if it turns on you it can be very dangerous to your rights.

Just one additional irratation trying to join someone elses law suit in DC after the other planiffs told them buzz off.

Just as an additional note the CARA legislation was introduced by Don Young A NRA board member.

California Rifle & Pistol Association and the Pink Pistols when I can make the shoots.

I was a member of the NRA but even after I joined they kept sending me letters asking me to join, at least one a month. I mailed them back saying 'hey guys, stop sending me these things! I'm in already' no good, still kept getting the mailing.

I figured any organization that's can't keep track of who's a member and who's not, isn't for me.

NRA, GOA...
Other:CRPA, GOC
Its very important that you belong to, and support at least one. Which one is not important.

But many gun owners feel they have a God-given right to a free ride at others expense. :banghead:
I try to "give back" 10% of what I spend, and spread it around the organizations. Most of the time, I succeed.:D

GOA here. I was an NRA junior member for a year a while back, but I have since decided not to continue my membership with them. No-compromise for me (I might rejoin if the new NRA president holds up an AR with a Beta-C mag while declaring "from my cold dead hands").

If money showed up earmarked for a pro-gun organization membership, I would join JPFO in a heartbeat.
