Do you bring tools to the range?

Multi tool, AK stuck cartridge tool (never had to use it), a cleaning kit with a few rods.... thats all the tools I figure I should need.

Some screwdrivers, a knife, a pick, one of those folding Allen wrench assortments. All the screwdrivers have hollow ground blades.

I need to find myself a good "desquibbing" rod.

Various screwdrivers, some prytools, a leatherman, small hammer, and a couple of old sectional cleaning rods.

My range has a strict policy about not letting anything with a live round leaving the firing line. Your weapon must be cleared before it can leave. Hence the need for tools.

Any tool I've needed, and not had at the range, gets added to the bag as soon as I get home. So now I have a small assortment. They usually get used... but mostly by others at the range who happen to need them.

I take a multi-tool, a staple gun, a dowel rod for removing stuck bullets and other odd jobs, and an 8 lb sledge hammer. The sledge hammer is for driving my metal targets into the ground. I also take a bottle of soap and an some water for washing grease and lead off my hands when I'm done.

I have an NRA "golf style" tool with several tip in both range bags. I do not got to the range w/o a gerber multi-tool. My ride always has a range of "breakdown" tools in it.

I carry these things the same way both range bags have a Kit, First Aid, Individual, on them, too. Just convenient, should someone discover that their Italian SAA clone has a very sharp edge along the extractor. Finger-tip bandage ("plaster" for you UK types) comes in right handy.

I have a Leatherman MUT and a basic tool kit that I carry in my trunk when going to the range. It includes a cleaning rod, a few patches and some lube. I usually use the same vehicle so it generally has a basic tool kit onboard at all times. It has come in handy on more than one occasion.

I have two range bags - one with lots of tools in it that stays in the trunk and the other that goes with me. It's a bit of a hike and I usually have more than one long gun with me, so I'm not lugging all of the tools down there too unless I bring friends. Wouldn't you know it, I was in a hurry today - had an errand before going to the range - and forgot the bag with the tools. About 30 rounds in, the AR choked on a cheap Wolf cartridge. I had nothing to work the case out of the chamber with. Shot some pistol and went home. Well I did get to meet a nice couple and share guns with them, so not the end of the world.

At the minimum, the proper tools to adjust sights, and a cleaning rod to knock out stuck cases or rounds that jumped crimp.

Otherwise, if I have spare parts for some reason, they just stay in the range bag. That's a habit I got from paintball, where diving into sand is commonplace, and sand does bad things to the gears in loaders and the seals in the markers.

I have a set of allens, a small set of punches & drivers, and a leatherman in my range bag. The punches & drivers might seem a bit silly, but they would have come in real handy when some yahoo shoved a .308 round into a .30-30 mag & attempted to chamber, requiring a total teardown of the idiots 94.

Guess who that idiot was---

Multi tool and a cleaning rod. I'm fortunate enough to shoot on my own property, so whatever else I may need can likely be found in my truck.

I have an extensive if not full set of tools in my range box. Screw drivers, allen wrenches, punches, cleaning rods, dental picks, old tooth brushes, cleaning supplies, etc. They get used a lot at the range, by me and others who need them while I'm there. My range box is big and heavy, and that's okay by me.

I bring a screwdriver and a wooden dowel rod. If I was smart, I'd pack a brass punch and a hammer too, but meh...

I also bring minimal cleaning supplies. Bore snake, oil, and a few patches.

If I'm shooting BP, I have a full toolbox with my possibles. Typically though, I'll just have a Gerber multi-tool and a set of allen wrenches, along with my Benchmade.
