I went shooting on Sunday with the new handloads in .45, .38/.357 & 9mm. A fellow with a Beretta 92 showed up, put 7 shoot-'n-see targets up and proceeded to empty 7 magazines, one in each target. It was about 1 shot per second until all of them were empty. He politely asked for a cease-fire and put up 7 more targets over his 7 used ones and returned to the line to reload. 7 more full mags, rapid fire and he was done.

I politely asked if he reloaded and he said "no". I said that I would police his brass if I could take it home and he agreed.

I was able to pad the stockpile with about 215 more rounds of once-fired Winchester for my future use. Not much else there but I came home with all that I shot too. It's about 450 rounds of mixed brass.

I also mined about 10 pounds of lead from the berm when I was the only one there. Gotta love the free outdoor range.

I keep what I bring but I dont usually do any pick up. The good stuff is usually gone by the time I get there.

Usually neither.. but then I shoot a moon clipped revolver so I get all the brass back at any of the matches I attend, including lost brass matches.. Moon clips cost money and I don't replace them as often..

Yep, always come home with a net-bag full of it.

Local indoor range where I do most of my shooting requires everyone police their brass off the rubberized floors and dump it in buckets - I've been shooting there a lot for about five years, and thanks to being friendly with the owner most of the employees it's not uncommon for me to shoot while one of THEM (lol) chats me up and pulls cases out of the bucket for me.

Of course, they know where the loads are coming back to be shot at... but it's a nice touch. I have hundreds of pounds (literally) of once-fired, brand sorted, decapped and tumbled brass in my basement as a result. Haven't bought pistol brass in years now. Also packed full of the "carbine/AR" calibers - 30 carbine, 223, 308 for instance... guys like shooting those puppies indoors.

No more. There are plenty ones fired .308Win, 7,62x53R, 30-06 and ofcourse 9mm Luger cases. I don´t need them anymore. I have already, as my wife says, too much. Some times I will to pick up for friends.

I find that those shooting next to me are more than willing to let me sweep up their brass. I always take a couple of 1-gallon zip loc bags for the extra brass. I just sweep into the dust-pan and empty into the bag. Less strain on the back that way.

My "brass stash" has grown to almost 10,000 pieces of my two favorite calibers.

i try to come home with more brass than I took. But, it never turns out that way.

KI.W.- In USA many shooting ranges are extremely busy, I personally get at least 2 gallons of brass each week from the range where I shoot. Some weeks, nice weather or hunting season, I have gotten 5-gallons of brass in one weekend. Those days, it looks like the range ground is paved with brass and there are often over 100 shooters in an 8-hour day.

With the area's around King County, WA becoming more and more limited we've made it a habit of picking up a good load of trash.

lets see do i bring home more brass than i take ??? you better believe it I am thinking of taking a big shop vac next time ! $24 for 20 7mm mag cases and $9.99 for 9mm cases i will take home buckets full ! wanted small trailer to take to range to haul brass in !

Mr Evan Price, everything is bigger in USA.
Very often I am alone in the shooting range because retaired and going there at 9am. I like it. I have rifles and revolvers with and can shoot my own ways. It takes 4-5 hours. Moose hunters train and perform shooting tests in this times at evenings. It means many cases like .308Win, 7,62x53R/54R and 30-06 Spr.
There is four ranges near my home. All are free of charage.
