Do you count every round

I can see a lot on a percision rifle but nothing else. I see my guns as tool. I never count how many nails that I hit with my hammer.

I keep a logbook on my Rem 40X in .220 Swift . I record every rd and the date they were fired. I don't do this on any other firearm I own.

I also keep the box tops from the ammo I fire for the three guns I own. Every couple hundred rounds, or so, I consolidate by writing X2, X3 etc. on one.

I count my rounds by the 100...I have guns w/ totals over 25,000 and my newest right on 1000.. The only time I will keep track of an odd number is if something pops up....malf or breakage But for the most part, I know how many rounds I have fired through each of my firearms.

i count every round on centerfire rifles/pistols. keep a log book that includes where i called the shot, and where i hit when i'm shooting precision-like. just count rounds when i'm doing mag dumps though, or making noise.. also, how many times i've cleaned them. i shoot 10k-20k per year of reloaded ammo and use lots of different loads, so mostly, i'm keeping track of which loads work well or not. also, i have suppressors for the guns i shoot regularly, so poa/poi w/ and w/o the can is tracked as well

it's not really a lot of work. it's something to do while your barrel's cooling
gives you time to stop and think about what your'e doing, what you can improve on the next string

When I have a new or nearly new gun at the range for the first few times, I take 3X5 cards and make notes about the types of ammo I am using and I put more detailed notes on the targets that I have shot and I save them for a while as a reference. I do this for maybe the first 150 to 300 rds or maybe 3 range trips. If all goes well up until them, I only go by the total number of boxes of ammo I use per range visit up to 1K rds, then no notes after that.

If it runs well, that is, REAL WELL, it stay until further notice. Any repeat issues are either repaired or it's history. I will not own finicky firearms, period.

Geez, I'm disappointed. I was expecting to see a thread about counting rounds out of a magazine, which I do. But total rounds.... never have. I don't have the foggiest idea how many rounds I've put through each weapon.

I will admit that I do keep track of how many rounds. Been doing this for about a year now. I just have a spreadsheet that has a page for each gun, and I keep track of the date, rounds fired, which ammo, and any failures. I also have sheets for each round that I reload that tells me how many I have "in stock" and how many I've fired. It's not that I'm anal or anything, and there isn't really a solid reason that i do it, I just consider it part of the hobby. It does help me decide which guns to bring to the range though. If a certain gun hasn't been out in a while, I'll bring it along.

I record the ammo reloading data for each firearm so I could look at the log and count the total reloads made less unfired rounds will give total rounds fired from a firearm. I record the brand of cases,primer, powder, grains of powder, bullet type and weight , C.O.L.,freebore ,date reloaded and number reloaded on the date. I also save most of the targets fired from each firearm when working up varmint and big game loads.

yep, i keep a count to the exact round # on every gun

i'm a bit obsessive in regards to it
but i keep spreadsheets on all sorts of things, especially gun & vehicle stats

I keep exact numbers on all of my rounds fired, but not in a formal fashion. Currently, I write the number of shots on an index card which is contained within each gun's case; in the future, I plan to switch to an excel spreadsheet, etc. I know, I know, I am anal!

Match weapons yes to within the round.
Others are roughly 100 rounds or so.

Counting rounds? Half the time I don't even know what brand I'm shooting.
