Do you guys like the MOE hand guards?

Im looking at a spike tactical 5.45 AR from aim.. but I cant decide if I like the hard guards.. Anyone use them?
 
I used them dir about 6 months on my ar and it worked great the wife just bought me a utg quadrail so I'm going to have a go with that for my coyote gun. Overall I really liked it . Especially with their stubby moe verti grip. It isn't the most pratical tacticool hand guard but if you don't plan on attaching your blender its great!

I just got the Spikes middy, great gun. Mine just has the regular handguard though. As for the MOE, I just don't like the looks of them and don't think I'd get one. I'm sure they are good and offer a nice lightweight option to mount an accessory or 2
 
I didn't find them to offer much over standard handguards although they are a cheaper way to mount stuff than quad rails.
 
They're comfortable, but entirely too common. Not be a hipster, or anything lol.


I prefer a KAC-style rail on AR's, but you can't beat the practicality, cost, and weight savings of the MOE.


Now on the 870, I think it's going to be a real game changer. It's tough to find a quality, inexpensive forend that is capable of mounting a rail.
 
I have a set on a 20" rifle and like them very much.
I have a couple of 2.5" rail sections and a couple of 4" rail sections for mounting a light, vertical fore grip, or bipod but most of the time I use them as is.

Don't like the looks, don't like the way they feel in my hand. I'm not a fan. I prefer quad-rails and XTM panels

I love mine. Just a little better than the stock guards in every way and I think they look much better. You also get options for a light or a vert grip without going full tilt quad rail. At under 30 bucks it does not kill you to try them out either.
 
I have one on mine and love it. Of course, I got it when they weren't cool and now everyone has one. But, they are extremely comfortable and I wouldn't want an AR without one.
 
One of my carbines has the MOE handuards. I really like the feel and look. I have the MOE butt stocks on 4 of my rifles.
 
I really like my carbine length MOE handguards. I also have the MVG front grip, and they work very well together. They are well designed, inexpensive, made in the USA part that I enjoy using. Ever try gripping a unprotected quad rail? Wear some gloves....
 
I have a set of KAC-RAS and a full length YHM railed handguard.
The carbine rail is sitting in a box and standard M4 handguards are on my carbine, the YHM is on another 20" rifle and I may switch that rifle over to a MOE handguard.
I really don't need the weight or all the rail space on my rifles.
 
I like them as a nice kind of plastic handguards and have a few sets. I have tried using rails and such with them and IMHO they are NOT anything close to a substitute for a quadrail or modular freefloat if you intend to attach vertical or angled grips, sling mounts, or anything else that puts pressure on them. They may be OK for small, lightweight lights in some situations, but it's hard to get a light in a convenient spot on them, and the $30 Elzetta light mount is IMHO far better for putting a light on an AR with plastic handguards.
 
I love mine. Thy are better than a standard hand guard since you can add rails to the sides if you want. To me the feel more ergo than a standard guard and ESP a quad rail.

I dressed my AR in the of green set that brownells sells. I love them.
 
I have them in carbine,mid,and rifle length. While I appreciate the modularity of them, over time I've grown to dislike them. Maybe they're too common now, maybe it's how they feel, I don't know...I've been switching back to standard handguards. I tend to like my ARs on the KISS side anyways.
 
I've shot rifles with them, and they are fine. I definitely like the principle of keeping your rifle as light and simple as possible, and only using rails when and where you need them. A free float tube like a MI-SS or Troy TRX Extreme is a more desirable option, when it comes to accuracy and versatility of mounting accessories in different places, but for the price those MOE's are pretty hard to beat.

I am ordering a PSA 20" standard upper pretty soon, and I've pretty well decided on ordering it with the MOE handguards. It will do everything I need it to, i.e. attach my sling and light, and I can always save and upgrade to a free float sometime down the road if I feel so inclined.

BTW, Onmilo, why do you have your rear sight mounted in front of your ACOG?! It seems like that would possibly obscure you vision through the scope, and would make it a lot harder to get sight picture with the irons having the rear sight that far forward.
