Bought a Crossbreed SuperTuck for an HK 45C.

I was a bit shocked at how much play there is when the gun is holstered. The only other hybrid holster I've had was for my Glock 19 from White Hat Holsters. That holster fit my Glock like, well, like the kydex was made for it, because of course it was.

I emailed Crossbreed CS asking if perhaps they'd sent the wrong Kydex but they said "The leather backer that we use will bend to your body, which will push the pistol more into the kydex shell and will tighten the retention of the holster."

It does, a little, but it's still got huge gaps around it. I was expecting a snugger fit. This really looks like the wrong Kydex but Crossbreed says it's correct.

What do you all think? Are my expectations off?

I cannot offer an expert opinion but from my experience hybrid holsters suck. I have been advised that the leather will eventually conform as you wear the holster. However I have used leather holsters that were formed for the gun before I wore the holster. I look at a holster like I look at a gun. It has to work out of the box.

I don't own either, but the Glock doesn't have any appendages on the right side of the pistol, while the HK45C has the paddle mag release, and slide lock lever on the right side, and there has to be room for those to maneuver in and out of the holster.

Not having owned a hybrid holster, does the gun click into place like it would in an all kydex holster?

I had a Crossbreed a couple of years ago, then it went with the gun when I sold it. If I recall it was for a Taurus PT45. Observations:
1.When pulled from the holster there was a decided "snik" sound.
2. The holster passed the jump test. Multiple straight up jumps and landings without loosening the gun fit.
3. The holster passed the upside down test, securely holding the gun when held upside down.

Of course all were without any retention device. You might see if your Crossbreed likewise retains the gun. If not, it should be returnable and remolded.

HTH

-jb, prefers leather regardless

I have the second holster Crossbred holster ever made for an XD back when the company was first starting out. It has been a good holster if not quite as refined as the more recent products. I don't really see an issue with OP's holster, it looks like a generous sight channel. IMHO that is a good thing. As long as it holds the handgun securely and allows for a clean draw I would not worry about it too much. It is also kydex so if you don't like it take a low temperature heat gun or a hot hair drier to it and tweak it to your likings.

No, not at all...

The way that Crossbreed fits your 45C is something akin to a sock on a rooster! I’m wondering if CB mistakenly sent you a .45 USPc holster??

Feel free to send Crossbreed the following HK45C-Crossbreed Supertuck photo(s).

Slightly clearer photo...

Raindog, that's the worst fit I've ever seen, send your pictures to Crossbreed.

I've got a Minituck for my G43 and it fits it perfectly. I like it a lot. Now that I'm getting too fat for comfortable IWB, I've found myself just going OWB. Need to work on that.

I have an older Crossbreed Supertuck and a newer one and both great.

One for a 1911 and one for a Springfield XD.
