you shovel a foot of snow off your shooting bench to test out your newest loads?

well, that is what i did today, i had spent a few nights this week putting together loads for a troublesome 308. i was wanting to go w/ heavy bullets so i could shoot beyond 500 yds and could not get anything to shoot well, on a whim i put a few 150gr. nosler ballistic tips in the mix because they were there. wouldn't you know it, they shot better hands down.

i reconfirmed that matchkings don't belong in my rifle again today. i/e i shot the last of those attempts up.

then i did 4 loads w/ 155gr a-max bullets, 41gr and 42.5gr of benchmark and varget, w/ the hotter loads performing allot better, w/ the 42.5 varget barely bumping out 42.5 benchmark. kinda not sure where to go from here, probably go hotter on the loads and see if it likes them. kinda curious if i should try 140's...

Yep, cabin fever for sure.

We get snow that sticks down here about every 10 years.

Downside is we get 99 and 100+ degree temps with high humidity down here as well.

Sweating just standing around.

that boy scout design might have something to do w/ the fact that i am a neighbor to the boy scout camp, saw it, had to make it, really nice and sturdy, got one at 50 yds and another at 100yds.

come on out, fixin to go back out and build some hotter loads, those were near max on a sierra book, but the hodgdon websight sais i can put allot more in, and i had plenty of room left in the case....

The first time I went to BSA camp and saw that design I had to have one myself. Talk about sturdy, those are downright "teenager proof", which is enough said.

The only difference in our 2 benches is that mine is covered in 12" of "illegal aliens". That's the difference between living in the great white north and down south these days!

Time to make some snowmen for targets! It's too cold to use that charcoal for grilling so you might as well use it for target practice and what better target holder for it than a snowman head and belly?

Hard packed snowballs also work great for targets. Great for the .22.
