Do you Ruger

View attachment 1165692

Just a little. I believe these are the only Ruger rifles I own. We've had some fine times, though. The .416 in particular has been on all sorts of little adventures and I treasure it.
Those are the finest rifles Ruger has ever made. They were essentially hand built and worth way more than the asking price at the time.

Of course I Ruger and like Riomouse they make up more than any other brand I own. Most are single action revolvers or semi-auto 22 pistols. The only centerfire hand gun they make that I like is their 1911. Of the rifles two are 10/22s that were so inaccurate out of the box that all that is left of them is the action and bolt and I trued and headspaced the bolts, Now they are two of my favorite 22 rifles to shoot.

With some regularity, we have “if you were limited to one brand” threads. If I were limited to one brand, I would likely pick Ruger. They make one model or an other that would meet just about any gun need that I have, the lone exception being a pump action shotgun.

I really had to dig to make it happen. I was deep in my Ruark phase, though, so I ate ramen, pitted dealers against each other, and told my dinner dates that I must have left my wallet in my other pants. I think I probably spent $3000 total on the pair, and from where I'm sitting it now seems like the bargain of the century.

Yes, did for a while.

But there's still time for K-ruger. from Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony):) And the name "Sturm Ruger" seems to have a slight German connotation? 🇩🇪

I used to be a rabid Ruger loyalist. Over time they have lost me. 3 Rugers had to go back to the factory, several more shipped with bad magazines, one wouldn't function until I gave it a complete tear down and reassembly, the extractor on American rimfires is a joke and others had unacceptable cosmetic flaws. I think at last count that about 30% of the Rugers I bought new we unacceptable or unsatisfactory in some way. I am done with Ruger.

I have a lot of Rugers. Blackhawks, Redhawk, Vaqueros, Single Sixes, Single Sevens, M77 MKII, Hawkeyes, Minis, No.1s, No. 3, Americans, SP101s, GP100, LCRs, 10/22s and a PCC. The only one I got rid of was a M77 MK II in .308 because I could never get it to shoot. 3 MOA on its best days. Usually 4 or 5 MOA most days. My skinny barrel Mini-14 had better accuracy with the irons.
I guess I ruger. Haven't bought anything recently but I think all of the manufacturers are having QC issues

Sounds like it! Last I recall, they were $1500 MSRP but folks just didn't realize how good they were. Fantastic rifles!

Last night I looked at the book that I keep with each rifle and saw that I paid $1250 for the .30-'06, as they apparently didn't sell well. (When I picked it up, the guy at the counter sneered at it and said something like "A deer rifle in dangerous-game guise. Kinda dumb.") The .416 was $1600, and I had to really work to find one at that price. That was at the height of the late eighties/early nineties .416 craze and some places were trying for $2000+ for the Ruger, so I was happy to find it for anywhere near retail. After trigger jobs, a feeding issue with the .416, an NECG aperture sight for the .30-'06, and a few other gunsmithing bits and pieces, I spent a total of just under $3100 (in 30+ year old dollars, where did the time go?) and yeah, I still find that entirely satisfactory.

I'd like to get Ruger #1 or #3, mostly to learn about them. Primarily in a varmint cartridge. 221 Rem Fireball would be cool, maybe something in a 6mm.

I have a couple 10/22's and they are great rifles, one is actually my daughter's but she live in the UK so her rifle stays here.

I was chatting with a guy who had to return a gun to Ruger. They gave him a 7 digit RMA. 11 days later he had to send back another gun to Ruger. They gave him another 7 digit RMA. It was 3000 higher than than the previous RMA. Assuming the numbers are sequential, that's almost 300 RMAs per day.

I have every reason to believe that RMAs are sequential. That's a lot. It's likely that when someone calls Ruger looking for something like torx screws to replace the worn slotted screws on their rings, that Ruger assigns that an RMA. Still seems like an awful lot of need for customer service.
