With the LMT piston upper almost ready (or at least that's according to "The Book of the AR-15" magazine - do you think LMT will offer a piston conversion kit like Bushmaster?

I'm a fan of LMT stuff and have 2 defenders but really want to buy 2 of their lowers with piston driven uppers when they're available.

If I could convert my existing Defender standards too, that would be a plus. I like my Defenders as they are with Daniel Defense rails, but the addition of a piston system would be great.

I'm a bit LMT fan myself.

I remember reading (a while back, so who knows if the final design meets this) that the existing DI MRP's will be able to be retrofitted with the piston system. Considering that it looks like a number of parts including the carrier are different, I don't know if that would turn out to be worth the money... I bet any retrofit kit made available would me mighty pricey.

I will be looking into rebuilding my standard DI LMT 10.5" rifle with a 10.5" piston MRP if/when that upper becomes available.

BTW, that conversion of an existing rifle is only for existing MRPs. You wouldn't be able to convert a standard AR upper (LMT or not)... every single part is different, except maybe the bolt. I'd have to look back at the few pictures of the piston system that were released a while back.

hmmm. The MRP is nice though. I've been wanting to get one or two. Maybe I'll just wait for the piston version though before I buy.
