The only thing I can think of is Rossi Puma or Marlin stainless Trapper.

A guy locally has what he claims is an actual stainless steel Winchester 94 in .44 magnum. Barrel looks to be 16".
He's asking $2500 for it. I have not seen it or talked to the guy, here's a picture from the ad.

Wow, interesting. I didn't know they even existed or that they were worth so much. Too bad they weren't made in sufficient quantity to justify actually using them.

According to the auction referenced above (which is still going on, the gun hasn't sold):

[Information added 08/07/2008 5:32:27 PM]
"I have been in contact with Winchester. For $40.00 they will provided an official, historical letter to verify that only 564 of this model were produced."

They existed alright. Winchester did limited run of them for the Friends of the NRA, as well a small number for regular production

The NRA ones had some engrainving and special serial numbers. I chased them over 2500 bucks at 3 different dinners and still got outbid.:cuss:

Are you looking for a collector, or a shooter. A plain Jane Trapper and a hard chrome job will give you basically the same thing, and I think a better gun.

I picked up my blued Trapper a few years ago, basically NIB for $250. I'm not sure what they are getting for a chrome job these days, but how much can it be? $150, $200 max? Still lots cheaper than SS.

:) No, thats not a mares leg, A mares leg is a stock cut down to the pistol grip stock and barrel under 16 inches. ( what was the mares leg barrel length, 10, 12 inches? )
Found my own answer, 12 inch barrel

WInchester did make a few, very few in .44 I have seen a couple of the .30-.30's. Think they were all produced for specific venues but some in .30-.30 were sold to distributors.

I recall seeing some stainless 94s with black plastic stocks. I generally think stainless and plastic are ugly and that's what I thought of these. Although they would be practical for hard use... which nobody will do because they are rare and pricey.

It's a strange world...

I bought a blued Trapper last fall in .44 mag. for $400, in excellent condition. I certainly wouldn't pay $2500 for one!

The local seller referenced in the OP is still trying to sell the stainless 1894 as I just saw an ad for it again the other day..
