Does an IWB holster exist for effective CCW in dress clothes?

Eric Larsen of http://www.hbeleatherworks.com makes a very nice holster, the DC Tuckable.

He fell on hard times in '06, but is working hard to rebuild his business. His work is first rate and he's very helpful. I spent a good half hour on the phone discussing details and have a DC on order from him.

Check out the U.S.A. from Galco. It goes IWB, a clip goes over pants but under belt, and a little hook grabs on to the bottom of the belt. Only about a 1/2 inch of the hook is visible.

under-belt J-hook/C-hook style clips (from Galco and others)

I would avoid the J-hook style clips that are popular on some tuckable holsters. With this hook, your belt will not support the weight of the holster/gun and your pants do all the work.

I have heard that if your rig sags a bit, the belt may come out from the clip, which mean if you have to draw, your holster comes out with the gun. :( That's a Bad Thing (TM).

Before I retired I regularly dressed in "office formal" daily and found that the FIST #3 worked well for concealment. The only thing that shows is the clip and the body of the holster & gun lies below the belt line. FIST uses an extra strong clip and the rig can be secured by hooking it only to the waistband of the trousers if you prefer. Can't use a too large gun with this rig as it will be uncomfortable when sitting. I used a Glock 26 and it worked just fine.:)

I have a Galco Skyops it is a very nice holster and it works well with my XD 45 Compact

I wear a dress shirt and tie

every day in my medical practice. I spend a lot of time in close quarters with all sorts of people.

I carry either a G22 or a S&w 1911 Sc all the time, tucked in a Tucker Texas Heritage. I'm 5'9", 184 lb.

An excellent holster. IMHO the weakness of tuckables is the big, fat belt clips. J-hooks do make your pants carry the weight. Some use one J and one regular, which helps, but those wide clips really stand out.

I got some spring steel stock from Brownells and experimented. Finally settled on clips about the same width as my belt loops, blued with a matte finish.

The pic is a protoype set of clips. I later made a new set which is wider from the attachment to the holster up to where they turn to go down over the belt, mainly to get better spring properties so they hold their shape. Never been 'made' since.
