When I was a kid, 30 years ago, my father had a blackpowder hand gun that he made from a kit he had bought somewhere. I remember him telling me it came with a block of wood (to hand carve the body of the gun), a few metal pieces, and a vague instruction manual.

He loved that thing until it was destroyed in a house fire 10 years ago or so. I would love to find him one but anyone I ask around here looks at me like I have three heads.

Thank you

Lost handgun

Tell us what cal, for sure and was it flint or cap and ball

i got a few them, don't want to sell. Maybe there is someone oUT there that wants to sell.

Go to guns of America and they have a lot of pictures.

If it was thirty or more years back it was most likely a CVA kit and came with about an 80% done stock, rough cast fitting ect
If it was just a rough cut stock blank, probably an old Dixie Gun Works kit
Lots of outfits offering kits in a wide range of prices these days

Jason, I just finnished an old/new ASM 1851 Navy .36 Brass Frame a guy from Texas sent me to put together...it was a gift from his wife and daughter. The Kits can be alot a work... but then you know your Dad better than I do.
If his was a brass Colt you might jus' think about gettin' him one from Cabelas for $129 all assembled...and he can then fine tune it to his likins...(that's what I'd prefer anyway)...I bet you'll both have a good time shootin' it.
Just a thought...
