Does anyone carry a .32 Cal.

I have often considered carrying a .32, the .380 I have while small, has little "cool factor".
So, I'm going to trade it in and start carrying the .31 1849 pocket :D . If I get close enough, I can light them on fire.

Be safe,
Dave

I'm looking at joining the "pocket gun" set pretty soon, and my wife's J-frame is just too thick for khakis. So I'm thinking about a .32 or a .380. Is it true than the .32 penetrates better? What about rim lock? I heard it can be a problem with the .32.

Dad carries a Beretta Tomcat loaded with Silvertips on his person. He's 76 and pretty frail. Carrying anything larger, concealed, would be difficult for him. Besides, he's had an affection for .32 caliber rounds since before I was born. He could be right too - it seems like I read somewhere the .32 ACP has a stopping record that far exceeds what would be expected from it's paper ballistics. Then again, Dad's no fool - his car gun is a 9mm Browning Highpower. I'm sure he'd carry that on his person if he could.

At one time I carried a Beretta .25 as my pocket gun so I was delighted when the little .32's started coming on the market. Tried a Kel-Tec .32 and then got a NAA Guardian .32 and wound up selling the Kel-Tec. Nothing wrong with it just didn't like it as well. I have always found that anything larger is difficult to use as an always pocket pistol.

My Tomcat is in my pocket just about all the time. After several hundred rounds it has never failed to function in any way and it's accuracy for me is much better than my P-11 or the 3AT I had a chance to shoot recently. The fact that it has a safety, hammer, and the flip up barrel and it looks like a real gun are why I bought it when I went looking to buy a P-32. The grip is a bit wide and prints a bit in my pocket but my cell phone holster on my pocket hides this well without hindering access to the gun. The fact that I can remove and reinstall the slide in about five seconds is a bonus for those times when I need to leave it in the car. With the slide in my pocket I don't have to worry about providing a thief with a functional weapon or even anything he can fence. I think this little pocket pistol still suffers from a bad rap from some problems early on. The newer models deserve a better reputation and more attention in the lineup of good pocket rockets.

I am qualified with my Beretta Tomcat. Carry it with CorBon's. Carry it when I need to be very discreet. My primary off duty is a Glock 32 in 357 Sig. Feel very comfortable with that weapon.

S&W 432PD here, which is 6x .32H&R Mag :)

I know it's not the .32 y'all meant, but I *can* shoot .32ACP if it's all I've got :-D

Carry the Beretta Tomcat Inox a lot loaded with Silvertips. Mine is reliable, more accurate than I expected, pleasant to shoot, easy to carry.

P32 in a cheap pocket holster - I moved the trigger guard seam a little and it's a perfect fit, and invisible as a wallet in my back pocket.

The wife of a friend of mine carried a .32 Beretta Tomcat for a couple of years. She travels often in her job. She's since asked her husband to find her something else. The recoil for that pistol bothers her. I asked him to let me try it out at the range, because I had considered the same pistol for CCW.

If I could find a magazine that had an extended grip, I think the recoil would be very manageable. I think the accuracy past 10 yards is abysmal, but I would say the same for most pistols of this type (smaller caliber, 2" or shorter barrel). This version of it had night sights, the usefulness of which I question, especially in very low or no light. I would think the flash would blind you.

It didn't jam on the two types of ammunition we tried (Winchester 60 grain Silvertips and Winchester white box 70 grain FMJ). Rapid fire on a target at 10-15 feet, I was able to hit more consistently on the paper with a Taurus PT-22 double-action only than I could with the Beretta. If I aimed carefully, I could get consistent groups.

Maybe I just needed more practice with the gun, but I made the decision not to buy it. I don't think I'd have a problem with the caliber, if I was using it as a deep concealment or BUG. YMMV.

I don't carry a .32, but the lightweight J-frame .32 H&R Mag. sixguns from S&W and Taurus appeal to me. They have "backup" written all over them.

I carry a Seecamp LWS-32 as my usual on-duty, uniform back-up weapon, as well as my occasional off-duty weapon, when I can't/don't want to carry anything bigger.

If anyone doubts the accuracy potential of these weapons, I recently fired our State Peace Officer's course for full-size duty weapons with the Seecamp, which involves firing from 25 yards and in, and shot an 88/100. I was very ecstatic, as I outshot some Officers who were qualifying with their issue Beretta 96G's.

Gary & Matt...

I have a friend in WVa that carries re-blued Colt. 32 everyday... a kind older gentleman that you do not want to cross... he's evil with that piece.
