I generally carry the CZ-P01 between 4 and 5 o'clock (ie -behind the right hip) outside the waistband. For this to work properly, I usually wear a light jacket or long shirt (no problem).

However, on a whim, I tried to carry at 2 o'clock and it was MUCH more comfortable while riding in a car and it was just a concealed (with the same light jacket).

Does anyone else do this? good idea? bad idea?

thank you

I carry crossdraw which is much better riding in my truck or car and is easier to get to if need be. I don't like the 3-4 o'clock positions and the crossdraw is much better for me at the 9-10 o'clock position which is my main carry spot...

Yup, I do and have for nearly 8 years now. :)

Don't trust the jacket not to flip back far enough to expose the gun, though. Try using a closed-front cover garment, or purchasing a tuckable holster so all that would show if it did flip back is just the loop.

Wouldn't carrying at 2:00 put the holster directly over your right thigh? I can't see how you would ever draw from that position.

I carry at 3:00 with my holster sitting right on my hip.

Yup, that's where it puts the gun all right.

How to draw from there? Like this:

(Anchor the non-dominant hand. Keep your finger off the trigger and far away from the trigger guard.)

I do the appendix carry (IWB) with a Kahr K9. Works fine sitting or standing. I cover with a t-shirt only.

Short barrelled firearms are most comfy there. Similarly, a holster with a slight muzzle-forward cant tends to feel better too.

I'm somewhere around 1 o'clock, with a P229 in an Uncle Mike's. I don't like 2 o'clock because it digs into my thigh. At 1 o'clock, it's comfortable to sit down and walk with. Plus, having a loaded firearm so close to your bits and pieces ENSURES trigger discipline. :D

I do a 3:30-4 o'clock type carry, most of the time; whereas if the firearm
accidentally goes off while riding in a OWB, the worst it can do is graze
my rear end~! ;)

While in the 2 o'clock position, if an accidental discharge were to occur
chances here it might strike that major artery in the leg, and you could
end up bleeding to death~! :scrutiny: :(

I wear mine at 3:00 or even 4:00. If I wore it at 2:00, the hammer would most likely puncture my fat roll when I sit down and I would become another "gun statistic!"

Yes, that's true. That's why smart people carry a modern firearm in good condition, and carry it in a secure holster which covers the entire trigger guard area.

In the winter I carry a Mod 19 S&W 2 1/2" barreled .357 magnum at 1:00 IWB. Not only is it more comfortable when seated in a car, but in the saddle on horse back too...

i've carried mine at 2 o'clock on a number of occasions. comfortable in the vehicle, sitting, etc. usually the gun is an IWB.

most of the time though, i carry at 7-8 o'clock in a fobus roto paddle.

I move the gun to 2 o'clock if I'm taking a nap in the car on trips, rest stops and the like. It's normally 3-4 o'clock.

A Bad Idea

Hey pax My Friend-

You reminded me, I use to work with a plain clothed narcotics officer who
carried his Glock 17 9m/m at 2 o'clock; NO HOLSTER, with the weapon just
stuck down inside his trousers~! :(

I use holsters everytime I carry; regardless of position~!

*shudder*

Glock? No holster? Positioned over the femoral artery?

That is a Very Bad Idea.
