Does Anyone Have Experience with a Cobra?

I am looking for reliability info on Cobra's in any caliber.

The only Cobra that I've ever used was a .38 Spl derringer. For what it was it was great. I wish I'd never sold it. It wasn't fancy, but never failed to fire, and I got to the point where anything inside 10 yds was hit, and I actually could hit a 6 ft round hay bale at 50 yds consistantly with it. Some of the autos are built like the old Davis, and Lorcin guns, while some of the newer models look like Kel-Tec's and Taurus', but are NOT anywhere near the quality, They really feel cheap. Can't say how they shoot or if they're reliable though, but I do like the derringers. They come in a variety of calibers from .22lr to .38 spl.

I have an older COLT Cobra in 38 spl. Outstanding!! Dont know nothing about any other cobra.

I work in a gun store that carried Cobra 9mm and .380s. We stopped carrying them due to the high number of customer complaints and problems.

Now granted that many problems were self-inflicted (NEVER dry fire a Cobra - the firing pin will jam and/or break pretty quickly) but we don't see anywhere near the number of problems out of any of the other brands we carry.

Will you have problems with a Cobra? I can't say.
Would I buy one. Nope - but that's just my personal view.

Cobra is just Lorcin re-branded. Even among Ring of Fire aficionados, Lorcins are considered junk. You know its bad when a Bryco/Jiminez owner looks down on something.

There have actually been several small but relevant changes made between the Lorcin and Davis versions and Cobra versions of the same gun.

My dealer got 5 of the 380's . Not 1 would fire . I would pass on them. No!! I would run away from them.

The derringers are the only reliable guns they make. I had a Patriot 45 and a Shadow 38 special. I don't have either any more. For just a little more money you can get a Kel-Tec or a used revolver.

I have a .22 mag derringer, Cobra. Shoots okay. I wouldn't buy another, I bought it on a whim.

I bought a .22lr Cobra used. Piece of junk. I could barely pull the trigger with two hands.
