I haven't shot my MN yet, but if i ever wanted more accuracy does anyone make new barrels for the Mosin Nagants?

I am also interested in getting a new wood stock for my M44, just because i would like to preserve any historical/resale value of the one I have and I dont want the deer to smell the cosmo.

I guess I just need a good source of MN parts/acceorise.

I dont know of anyone that makes an aftermarket barrel, im not sure there really is a market for a rifle that sells for 75 bucks.

As for stocks you can get a synthetic Monte Carlo stock that would probably be much better for hunting anyway as it has a nice cheekrest, which will help if you scope it. I personally would love to see someone come out with new wood stocks for surplus rifles, but i dont know anyone who does.

ANY barrel blank would work. A gunsmith would have to thread the barrel, cut the chamber with a reamer, crown the muzzle and install the front sight. This is the same process used on everything from Kreighoffs to Enfields. Of course the barrel and sight will need bluing.

New England Custom Gun makes front sights that're intended to be mounted in a dovetail cut into the barrel.

Wood stocks can be made with relative ease by anyone posessing a stock duplicating machine. You might have the exterior of a wood blank cut to match a contemporary rifle stock of your choosing, then have the interior inletted to match the interior of your milsurp stock.

Barrel blanks, iron sights, and blueing compounds are all for sale on Midway or Brownells.

accurizing

While not the solution you may be looking for, there is a company http://www.rocksolidind.com, their products may be able to achieve the best accuracy without re-barreling.
Their system , which is still in the works, claims to get you down to 2 MOA.

You know...there are so damn many of 'em around...finding a beater M-N and tweaking it like that...a few of those pics on that rocksolidind website looked pretty good. :)
