Hi,

I'm looking for a plain, stainless 1911. Does anyone make one? One with no markings on the slide, front serrations, flashlight holder or any of those fancy accesories? Or even a blue or parkerized one? Or roughly how much would it cost to have a smith fit it, if I had all the parts?

Thanks.

You might try Taurus PT-1911, I am not 100% sure what they have, but I have heard from several shooters that they are very good and they do not cost that much either, so I am sure they are pretty "plain Jane"

Springfield Armory makes a plain jane stainless Government model, called the GI stainless.

Colt makes a Stainless Government model also.

Both meet your requirements except they have their rollmarks on the slide.

Most companies want others to know their products, so they will have some markings on the slide. I have seen slides without much on them, other than model of 1911-A1 and .45 Cal, but they tend to be very high end, so the free advertising is not needed. I agree that you can have Caspian sell you a slide wihtout anything on it.

Go to Midwyausa.com and do a search for 1911 slides. They have a couple pages of slides from Essex, Caspian, Ed Brown, etc. in the white. Gun Smithing prices vary quite a bit so the only way to find out cost would be to ask. You may want the Gunsmith to order the slide for you as they may have a preference as to brand. Some brands of slides may require more fitting.

Many Ed Brown's have no markings on the slide. You won't typicallly see them on the company's website, but I've seen a few distributers get them. His 1911's are no-nonsense-no rails, etc, etc.

I think he wants a frame with an accessories rail.

johnnytang24, if you don't want rollmarks on the sides of the slide, you can have someone grind it off for you. Otherwise, you will need to order a custom slide to replace your perfectly-good one.

One of the few advantages of a stainless slide it that it has no finish. You can easily polish off what you don't like, and then leave it the way it is, or have it bead-blasted. Two or three dollars for some emery paper beats buying a new slide.

Really? You can just sand off what's there on a stainless piece?

CWL : No, I'm looking for no accesories rail.

thanks all.

Ed Brown makes plain-jane 1911s, and they will omit the roll marks on the slide.

I think Les Baer will omit the roll marks as well, one thing is for sure - they will omit the front cocking serrations if you want them to.

The Springfield looks good, but the Taurus is all fancy looking.

The Ed Brown is too expensive.

Thanks
