I'm looking for a couple of items that they seem to have in stock but I have never purchased from them before. Are they "good people"? Thanks.

Agreed, VERY good people. I've been buying things from them for years without a single problem. :)

I've had nothing but troubles with them.

Freebies that they refused to ship. Out of stock notification only after placing order.

An item I purchased from them proved to be defective, and they refused to take it for return/exchange.

I've placed one order with them. Based on my experience I will not be doing business them again. Too be honest, they seemed to be a bit dodgy in how they handle things. Just my opinion of course.

They did a pretty unclassy thing when they blatantly ripped off someone else's clothing design. I try to not support people who do that kind of thing. :cuss:

I've ordered from them a couple of times with good results. I haven't needed their customer service department so I can't speak to how good they treat their customers after the sale.

Are you talking about their tactical pants???

If so, I don't think your criticism is fair. They are huge promoters of 511. A little competition is healthy. I don't begrudge Lee, Wrangler, etc. for ripping off Levi's design either.

Nope, well not the 5.11 ripoff they did. Rather when the ripped off TadGear.

These are the TADGear Pants:

LAPG has these on their website:

I bought a Streamlight TLR-1 from LA Police Gear, as they had the best price around on this particular gun light (at least, the best price at the time, it's been a while). No problems whatsoever, I would gladly do business with them again.

They do look remarkably similar. Is it possible that LAPG gets their pants from TADGear?

Nope, all TADGear pants are made in the US. These are offshored. That coupled with the fact that Patrick (guy who owns TADGear) said they don't, and the

on the TAD website.

The TADGear pants are $95 and the LAPG pants are $25. I guess when you sell for that much you're inviting competition.

I agree that the LAPG pants appear to be a direct copy of the TADGear ones.

As the old saying goes, 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'

I've ordered a pair of boots, a knife, and at a flashlight from them. All were separate orders over the past 6 months or so, and they were on time with the orders and no problems. I didn't have to return anything, so I don't know how they do with that.

Some issues with out of stock stuff. Just check before you order. Otherwise good company.

As for those pants. It is just capitalism. Don't buy if you don't want to. They saw pants being sold for $95 and made a similar product and offered them for a fraction of the price. Competition is what capitalism is all about. If you think you are getting four times the satisfaction paying $100, great. But that ha no bearing on the quality of service provided by a company.

Damn near every gun made incorporates some ripoff of a John Browning design. Do you only buy Browning/FN products? I don't think so.

I have done plenty of business with LAPG, and been happy every time. There was some confusion with an item I ordered once; they told me to keep the item they shipped, and sent me the correct item free of charge.

Great company, only gripe is that they don't say if an item is in stock online. All returns have gone smooth. Highly reccomended.

When you add an item that's out of stock to your shopping cart, they say so on the shopping cart screen... ;)

RE: LA Police Gear, I bought a Maxpedition bag from them, maybe one other thing. I had a favorable impression of the exchange and I'd deal with them again.

I've bought a bunch of stuff from them, just placed another order yesterday in fact. Good prices, great sales, never a problem.

I don't care about any TadGear/LAPG feud, I wear 5.11 TDU pants on duty and I buy them from LAPG.

I've purchased things from them for years, never any problem. Got some great deals on closeouts. The one time something was backordered I had an email notification the next day.

BTW TADgear has no reason to say LA Police Gear ripped them off. Their pants are a close copy of Crye Precision's.
