I want a centerfire bolt action. I REALLY like the looks of the CZ 550 Safari Magnum, but I don't want a magnum caliber rifle. Does anyone make a rifle that looks like the CZ but it .308 Win?

Yes, CZ does. It's the regular old CZ 550, or its precursor. They're not as enormous as the 550 Safari but then you probably wouldn't want a 10 lb. rifle in .308.

CZ makes a couple versions of the 550 in .308, but I'm guessing you're referring to the stock on the Safari version as the feature(s) you're looking for?

I think he's talking about the (fairly) new multi-colored laminated stocks of the "American Safari Magnum" (the 'Spring Camo' and 'Sunset Camo'). Click on the American Safari Magnum here, and then grab the pulldown menu for "Product Specifications" for the stock and caliber choices:

Because the standard euro-style stock of the Safari magnum:

is pretty much the same as that of the classic 550 (the 550 "medium"):

Although not exactly.

And the non-laminated "American Safari Magnum" stock is nothing too special, so far as I can tell:

Here's all of them in the *current* offerings:

Hmmm, the "medium" is the only non-mannlicher euro style, and it has the hindrance of being chambered solely in 7mm remmag. You'll have to tell us exactly which one you like for us to figure out other makers who might make one. If you mean the Safari Magnum with the schnabel forend and downswept euro buttstock, that's gonna be a hard one to find in the USA - where are you located? Regardless, whether you want that one or the multi-colored laminated one, you're probably looking at a custom job from Richard's Microfit or what-have-you.

P.S. The 550 is a fine rifle. I have an "FS" mannlicher stock in 9.3x62 and a "Minnesota" (same as American) in .270 win.

In my readings about the CZ 750 I read from someone who had supposedly visited the factories while competing in the Cezch Republic. He said that the CZ 750 is made from stock factory 550 actions. Not a thing is done to them. If thats true then I guess that says it all right there. They use a stock factory action and barrel from their regular rifles to make their sniper rifle, becasue they are just that good.

That's exactly it. I want one with the hogback stock and the Schnabel forend.

This is the look I'm going for.

You probably won't like it near as much after you shoot it.

Too much drop scope use, and kicks like a stud mule due to the excess drop.
