So, what do they consider an AK pistol shooting 7.62x39? Or a Thompson/Center pistol in a rifle caliber?

I have been there. I brought my uncle from out of town and was almost embarassed with the way we were treated. Very short with us and rude. I was told that any pistol caliber rifle was O.K. as a handgun.

Fortunately for me, I go to a state owned range that is open year round and is free to shoot all day. The only problem, and its a serious one, is that on any given day, there can be several individuals who refuse to exercise proper firearm safety. On those days, I bite the bullet (pardon the figure of speech) and go pay to use a private indoor range.

I've seen the same thing at free state-owned ranges. It's sad, but I guess it's just a pitfall of letting anyone with a gun go shoot there.

Still, nothing beats private property. I don't want to go to a range where I have to buy their "pre-approved" paper targets. I want human silhouette targets, and most importantly, junk targets.

Whew!!! For that price you should be getting a lap dance while you shoot your gun. 3 range trips would pay for a 6 month unlimited membership here.

Expensive?

Our annual cost averages out to about $1 per week, and outdoors! I like the variety of choosing from 6 bays/separate burms - some are for pistol, some both, whereas the longun' is 350 yards. No waiting, and Saturday A.M. is busiest, go figure.
