Does your church have pro-gun Pastor?

Yepper! My Pastor CCWs while delivering the sermon and my G27 is on my hip while I listen to the delivery of said sermon.

Ours has a CC license, and owns a .22 pistol that he inherited, but he does not carry it. He says he has it in case he wants to sometime. He does not mind others carrying, although we have not talked much about carrying in church. Once a year we take the boys on a men's retreat, and there is lots of shooting of guns there, but it is mostly rifles and shotguns. I am currently working on a plan with the youth pastor to take the kids from the youth group shooting - boys and girls separate so there is a reduced chance of stupidity influenced by hormones.

Yep.

For his birthday, I got my pastor a XD-45 and CCW class. Of course I wouldn't spend that kind of money on just anybody, he's also my Dad.

I assume so, but will explicitly ask.

I know at men's retreats we always shoot skeet. We're doing an event here in a month or so that includes worship, bbq, fellowship, archery and rifle/target shooting.

I'll only attend where scripture is the basis of our actions, regulations, reasoning, etc. I do believe in befriending your enemy and turning the other cheek in transgressions, but i don't think that extends to playing the victim.

I guess I should amend my reply...last week we had a video from the "Royal Rangers"club(like boy scouts)and they asked one of the kids what he liked the best of the camp out weekend..he said"shooting the 22's"....my wife and I just looked at eachother and smiled....no one jumped up and freaked out...noone fainted..I guess there IS hope.....it's kind of sad actually, because those kinds of things used to be the norm, and now they're the exception.

Well, let me use an anecdote to desribe my rabbis/pastors position. I really didn't know his stance on second ammendment rights, although I knew he was an ex cop. But on the Sabbath after the VA tech shootings, he supprised me by declaring, from the pulpit no less:
"Mark my words! They will use this as an excuse to take away all of our guns, and when that happens, God help us!"
He then, after service asked me If I knew anyone who was selling a pistol grip shotgun.
I also suggested a church range day, (in the past we have had church outings to go bowling, golfing, ect.) and he said if I set it up, he would aprove it.

Our pastor is former 10th Mountain Division ... has made several statements that lead me to believe he's pro-gun. For one thing when discussing Exodus 20 in a recent sermon, he went out of his way to explain that it was "Thou Shall Not Murder", not "kill" ... and put in very frank terms that "...sometimes we must take a life to save a life".

Also he made some joke about telling the wife to get the pistol when someone knocked on his door at o-dark-thirty.

The Pastor of my Catholic Church is a friend of my Dad's, and came over to talk to me about me being depressed at the time (this was four years ago.) The conversation drifted toward video games (with guns in them, I like 'em!) and then came to guns themselves and let's just say that if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have my AK or be the gun nut I am now! :D

My pastor is very pro gun and has stated on more then one occasion that he is glad I CCW.

It's a little "country church" so I doubt we'd ever have something like what just happened in MO

That pretty much describes the church where the shootings took place, Neosho is a town of around 9,000. While there are smaller places it is by no means a big city.

I ran in to my pastor at Bass Pro Shop a couple weeks ago. He was shopping for a 12ga shotgun for home defense. We spoke for a while about our views of self defense/defense of home. I would say he is pro second amendment.

My pastor isn't pro-gun - or anti-gun for that matter...mainly because I don't have one.

OTOH, my rabbi is extremely pro-gun, as are many members of my synogogue. I've gone shooting with him on a number of occasions (I'm a better shot, I have more time to practice). On any given Sabbath or other holiday, there will be at least 1/2 dozen of us carrying - including the rabbi. We have an ex-Israeli special forces soldier in the congregation, and I seriously pity anyone who tries anything (even if he had no gun - this guy is a bear and knows offensive martial arts).

Oops. I lied in my previous post. I went fishing with him yesterday and learned a lot more about him. My pastor does have quite a few guns. He mostly has traditional looking hunting weapons but he also has quite a few handguns. He's a CCL holder and one one fishing trip with his granddaughter, he had to draw because of some gentlemen in a different boat getting a little stupid (he never went into more detail than that). When his boys were school, the rules were: Never start a fight and if someone else starts a fight with you, you better not lose or there will be consequences and repercussions at home. He's a good ol' southern gentleman.

I must answer in the affirmative. I recently had the privilege of shooting with my preacher at our local police range. We had a great time. I usually take pictures and this was true on this day. I took a picture of our preacher shooting a snub nose revolver at the 15 yd line. My wife got the picture and enlarged it. She added the caption"What do you mean you dont want to come to church. This preacher dont play." I hung it on the bulletin board at church for all to see. Take care.

The priest that was at my church before he retired used to have some handguns. I wa working there one summer and he saw me reading a gun rag and started chatting with me about it. I was fairly suprised as I had now this man for several years and he didn't seem like the gun type.

Yup. I'll never forget the time his family was threatened, and he spoke from the pulpit about 'a LEO friend from the congregation teaching his wife how to shoot their 357 magnum'. I love my pastor!

Yup.

Wait... that's me...

/Another church shooting in MO yesterday
//Didn't happen at mine
///Not having that; sometimes caring for the flock means feeding them, sometimes it means shooting the wolves.

OUTSTANDING!!! God bless you sir!

My dad is a Lutheran minister and he definitely is not anti. The guns aren't his thing, though, so he hasn't shot one since his army time looooooong ago. It was my mom who taught me the basics with her BB rifle, which I shot until its trigger mechanism was no longer safe...

Just the other day I had a debate with our pastor on the very topic. He used to be an airline pilot, and he was telling us about how when Secret Sercvice agents, CIA agents, etc. would request permission to carry on the plane, he would ALWAYS unceremoniously deny them permission. He commented about how pi$$ed off they would get, but said that he didn't want ANY guns on his plane. So, I said, "You must really have hated it when they started the air marshall program". He said, "no, that was fine because they were trained to shoot to kill". It just went downhill from there...

Yea my paster is a Pro-gun he has a gun safe full of shotguns and rifles and I thank he even has 2 pistols, he just don't shoot that much.

In Georgia, it is illegal to carry a firearm into a church, even if you have a pistol permit.

We really have one of the worst CCW permits in the country, and since the state is now dominated by liberals, social deviants, and corporate interests in Atlanta, that is unlikely to ever change.

Same here in Arkansas, though non-carry in church is the only thing I can think of at the moment to complain about as far as our CHL laws are concerned. Next time the legislature is in session, I may hit on our local representatives to see if we can get that changed.

I was at Wal*Mart and I saw something I could not pass up, a 6" Stainless Steel Springfield M1911-A1".

I am more surprised that you have a Wal Mart that sells handguns than by a pro-gun pastor!I have never heard of a Wal Mart that sold handguns. Where do you live? They don't in Raleigh.

Mike

Could have been years ago. I remember the Wal-Mart where I used to live sold handguns, but it was twenty years or so ago.
