The success of the Left to take over control of the House of Representatives has been blunted to some degree by Republican control of the Senate and by having Trump in the White House. But come 2020, it is not inconceivable that the Left will end up back in control of both houses and the White House. Because they think that they are entitled to be in power, and that the Supreme Court is there to re-interpret the Constitution to say anything desired by the agenda of the so-called "progressives", it seems unlikely that they would just calmly accept a conservative leaning SCOTUS that could bring their agenda to a halt. Especially in considering that it is very possible that during the next two years we will see at least one more of the liberal side of the Court retire, which when replaced would give the Right a 6 to 3 majority, the Left will likely follow through on what they threatened during the Kavanaugh hearings.

There is nothing in the Constitution that limits the Supreme Court to 9 members. Franklin Roosevelt was so upset at the Court's ruling of some of his early programs as unConstitutional, that he threatened to "pack" the court by nominating and getting confirmed multiple Left wing jurists and thus achieving a solid majority on the Court to support his programs. He backed off, in part because of the outcry his plan evoked in ordinary Americans, but that was back when virtually all Americans had reverence for the Constitution even stronger than their love of their Democrat President. Just this threat was enough for a Conservative court to reverse itself and suddenly find the Federal grab at power that Roosevelt wanted to be totally legitimate and legal.

I will not be surprised if such a threat again is enough to convince the court to reverse itself on Heller and MacDonald and to accept draconian gun control laws as Constitutional. And if that fails to happen, the Democrats could go ahead and actually expand the Court to ensure that their Left wing viewpoint becomes the majority.

So rather than hoping and relying on the SCOTUS to protect our 2nd Amendment rights, a more immediate effort should be made to make sure President Trump is re-elected, that Republicans expand their majority in the Senate, and that maximum effort is expended to re-take the House.

So vote for pro gun candidates. Ah, yep, I'm guessing THR members do that.

Politics......... ugh.

2A and other of our constitutional rights are being whittled away. It will take drastic measures to stem the tide and reverse the trend. Voting is but one of these ways.
