I was aware of the Ruger webpage to contact elected officials ( http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/takeAction.html ) but not until this morning about how strongly the company felt about pushing back against all the kneejerk gun control measures being slung around. Ironically I have NPR to thank for that...

I intend to both call and email Ruger and offer appreciation for their stand.

One thing that stuck out from the NPR clip was the guy (CEO/president maybe?) saying that we need ALL the companies - not just Ruger - on the same page and doing the same thing. Think I'll also work at contacting some of the other guys out there and remind them it'd really be in their best interests to help us push back!

Also wondering if a "DON'T MAKE SPECIAL 7-ROUND MAGAZINES!" campaign might be worth launching on companies (not 1911 companies, of course...)? I remember a guy writing in to Gun Tests Magazine moaning about how they never specify if the guns they test are "California Legal," :barf: and how sometimes none of the guns in a test are....

The general consensus to that comment was "If you don't like it, ELECT PEOPLE who will get rid of that BS in California!"

It could be argued that, "business" aside, complying with the insane California laws lessened the will (and need) of Californians to fight back against the laws. The same thing could easily happen if gun makers bend over and start complying with the new draconian NYC laws....
