Don't speed through Lonoke, Arkansas.

Remember Macon County Georgia

This reminds me of the old Macon County Georgia, circa late 60's through the late 70's. Even made a movie about it.

I don't know about that.
Look who stole the last governors election in Washington.
It took the Seattle Democrats 3 tries before they enhanced enough ballots to declare Queen Christine the winner.
We voted no on both sports stadiums and they still took our money and built them.
We have plenty of corruption in this corner of the country.
AC

Not a patch on, say, Louisiana electoral politics.

I don't know guys. It might be sort of neat to get thrown in jail in that town.

This whole thing has "bad made for TV movie" in the near future writen all over it.

there aint no call

to compare Carter with Clinton, other than being Xpresidents and Southerners,
to attempt to do so is a dis-service to the former, and an inapropriate boost to the later.
By any measure honest and just it just Aint Right!

Being from Arkansas, I'm not sure what to make of this statement. I know most of us were happy to get rid of the Clintons when Billy was elected President. We couldn't believe our good fortune, or how dumb the rest of the country was.
I'm not the brightest but I never voted for slick Willie!!:barf:
The police chief told reporters Monday that the charges were false.
I didn't read anthing about someone being arrested for false arrest?
The chief, Cox and Norwood also were accused of taking part in a conspiracy to make methamphetamine and use it to frame someone else. An affidavit in the case says a man named Ronald Adams made a deal with the chief to cook meth and deliver it to a man named Roger Light, whom officers would then arrest. They would then pressure him to help them find a fugitive who owed money for bail bonds. In return, police would drop pending charges against Adams, according to the affidavit.
This is normal practice from what I see. I watch cops on tv and they're always selling drugs to people and then arresting them for possesion of drugs. Maybe they had to make their own because after all it is a small town and they were out of confiscated drugs.
It sounds like to me this clan is building a resume for the coming elections. Maybe governer? Heck were looking for another here in Illinois. Our last governer is on trial as we speak, and our current governer is under federal investigation as we speak. Try chicago, they are always in need of corruption because politicians are always going to jail.;)

Granted we in Arkansas get our share of crooked politicians.
But we also have CHL(CCW) and we don't have to bother with all kinds of licenses to buy or own guns. I was stopped the other day(my first time pulled over in 15 years) and the police officer was very nice. When they call in and find out that they are pulling over someone that has a valid CHL they know that this person is a straight citizen.
Most of the time they will talk to you about guns and if you got a turkey this year.

As a general rule, it's a bad idea to speed anywhere, Arkansas or otherwise.

I don't know if there's a higher percentage of "bad" cops here than anywhere else, all the ones I know have been very professional.

This Campbell stuff is a pretty big deal here, I live "almost" in Lonoke, and they are pretty much a laughing stock right now. The cheif has been moved out of state to protect him.

Maybe the moral is that the system works ... eventually.

One of my co-workers at a former employer got stopped for "speeding" in one of those little towns way back when. Out of state tags, of course. Deputy asks him, "where you goin' in sech a hurry, boy?"

My buddy told him he was on his way to the county courthouse to do some maintenance on the computer system (which was true). He had the inspiration to add, "They can't print the paychecks until I get it fixed" (no, not really true!)

The deputy hollered at him, "Follow me!", jumps in his cruiser and takes off, lights and siren, and escorts him to the courthouse at high speed.

One of my favorite stories ever.
