Inspiring is the word.

I was given a couple of family heirlooms that had been neglected for 50 years or more. One is a Eclips Meteor 12 gauge and the other a New Baker 10 gauge. Both hammer double barrels. Both were crusted with rust. I cleared off the rust and found a lot of original finish under it. The Eclips has a lot of problems and is unsafe to shoot as is. It went into a gun cabinet with other old relics.

The New Baker is in sound condition and I've test fired it (in tire method) with some heavy loads. I'm fixing some more minor problems and doing more restoration work on the furniture.

Finding hulls for the 10 gauge has proved frustrating. One gun collector had 7 brass cases. I have promise of getting some modern 10 once fired hulls to cut down. We live near Graf & Sons and they stock BPI products so I've been able to get wads. So I can imagine how difficult it would be to find 8 gauge hulls and wads.

Brass

The headstamp on one of those hulls appears to read "cannon volley/valley" is that correct? It looks like a lathe turned hull. Is that so?
Info appreciated.

...the other a New Baker 10 gauge...
The New Baker was made by several companies, Syracuse Arms, Ithaca, Baker Gun & Forge, and maybe others I have forgotten. The chap who designed it was quite good and help a couple of companies get off the ground. I have NBs in 10 and 12 gauge.

I've cut modern cases down to 2 7/8 and shot ducks with a 10 ga. and blackpowder. Worked just fine
