Gray Missles will be dartin' , divin' , jukin' and jivin' pretty soon - ya'll ready!
Dove season was invented by the shotshell manufacturers
Horsefeathers!
1. Time to pattern them shotguns for distances doves are expected to be in your respected areas.
2. Target loads of 2 3/4" length, 2 3/4 dr eq [skeet] or 3 dr equiv [trap] loadings are recommended. Big reasons include harder shot for better patterns and better bases and quality control for shell specs for feed and extraction.
3. Distance Markers. Best kept secret is using gray-ish shop rags tied to string and set on vegetation or on the ground.
These work for decoys too.
4. Camo not needed, I never used it. Just natural neutral colors to fit in dirt roads and vegetation that allows for freedom of movement, and you are gonna sweat.
5. Bandana under a hat is advisable. I am not a baseball hat person, I prefer a hat that also protects neck from sun and rain.
6. Beef Jerky makes everyone a better shooter
7. Peppermint is for spoiling dawgs...and ya'll wonder why the dawgs retrieve my birds...
8. If you are seasoned shooter - not about you, it is about the new shooters especially kids.
9. Drink plenty of water, and leave the booze alone until after the shoot and the BBQ is served.
10. Safety always...don't mean you cannot have fun...
11. Plug them guns...have them licenses...bring the correct ammo for the gun ya brung and bring extra ammo and stuff for new folks and kids.
12. Kids first hunt - tradition is to get some quality pocket knives to pass out after the first hunt to the kids. We used to use Old Timer stockmans. Now the SAK classics and if you want a bit more money get the Buck Lancer, or Case Peanut.
<points hand, hollers out>
Gotta pair coming in on yer right!
bang...bang
Dang nice pair ya got
Ain't nuttin' better than painting them gray missles out of the sky and contradicting the idea it take all them shells to fell so few birds...
Watch six! One with his afterburners coming up on you...
bang
Yeah...just like low 7 ain't it?
Paint 'em !
